Thanks for the info. I was looking into this mainly due to the height of the antennas off the back. I know I can do a quick disco but if I wanted to leave it on all the time, the parking structure where I work is 7’. A 3’ fire stick is going to be tight. I also wondered if a 2’ or 3’ in place of the current antenna would have better range since there is less of it being blocked by the Jeep?
Depends a lot on the design of the antenna, basically the shorter antennas use coils to shorten their overall length in order to get a decent SWR and maintain the correct wave length for the frequency you are transmitting on. Technically speaking the higher the better though if there are limitations then you just have to make do with what you have.

Some folks will still run a 102" whip on their Jeeps but use a body mount with spring and rain gutter clip then bend the antenna down and clip it to gain the clearance they need in order to get under low obstacles.

Something that occurs to me with these AM/FM/CB splitters, back in the day..... our radios weren't as complex as todays so I wonder what happens if that splitter fails and puts 5-25 watts of power into the antenna socket of your U-Connect radio.... that would be an expensive problem..... or interference?
