Hi Y'all,

I have purchased the arb twin compressor (with tank-comes in a heavy duty case) many years ago and am planning to install it under the seat shortly. Have purchased the arb mount too.

Has anybody done this, do I need to purchase any additional fixtures or fittings? I dont plan to install the tank under the jeep, just the compressor under the seat.

Based on the instructions it looks like all the parts needed are already part of the case kit ie; metal braided hose, switch, L adaptor to run under the compressor?

if you have big tires the only concern is how hot the arb pump gets, and it will be hot.

If it's just the compressor the kit should come with everything you need. The trickiest part for me was getting the power cable back to the battery.

Check out youtube and there are a bunch of videos of different under seat installs that may help.

As @SadRobot said. Watch all the relevant YouTube videos, then take your time on the install. There is a vent that points directly at the compressor if you are using the ARB under seat mount on the passenger side. Since you will want the engine running when you use the compressor you can turn on the air conditioning to blow on the compressor if you have heat concerns.

or do what I did... cut the vent so it's directly onto the compressor with the intention of always turning the A/C on when airing up, forget you did that and then halfway through airing up yell "oh crap the A/C! and jump inside and then turn the A/C on. ?

You should specify the exact kit you bought for more specific suggestions. Also, what is the planned purpose of the kit? Just airing up the tires, or also for airing down, air locker operations, air tools? All of this makes a difference. For example, just airing up tires means you will only actuate the compressor at the end of the trail and normally you will be outside--so vibration and noise not much of a factor. If for operating lockers, it will cycle throughout the day and having it under the seat might get pretty annoying.

Could you link some youtube videos of an ARB dual under the passenger seat of a JLU? I am not finding any and I plan to help a friend install an ARB under the passenger seat in hear JLU this weekend.

It’s an easy install. The hardest part is stripping the harness down if you don’t need the air locker support. I used American Adventure Lab’s setup to mount it under my driver’s seat and am very happy with it. Noise and heat aren’t an issue in my opinion.

Here's some Kraken installs which shows how they got it installed under the passenger side.

Here's another one I found that may have some info:

Good luck with the install and feel free to send me a PM if you have questions. I've now installed this thing twice (once under the hood and again when I moved it under the passenger seat).

Hardest part is routing the wiring. DO NOT attempt to put it through the firewall. Route it through the drain plug under the seat, zip tie it to the frame rail (on top of the frame...) then come up the inside of the fender to the battery.

I routed the switch to the "constant hot" under the glove box (from the Aux Switches).

Post up more questions! GOOD luck! This mod will change your life FOREVER!

I went through the firewall grommet for the wiring. I did have to remove the battery case and fuse box, but it wasn't that bad so long as you pay attention for reinstalling the stuff. I thought about going through the drain plug but my wiring harness would not have been long enough. It originally for a JK so maybe the new harnesses are longer. As to the tank, I used the ARB bracket that was for installing the tank under the vehicle and instead installed it on my RR fenderwell between the roll bar and the window. Some 3M racer tape and a couple of bolts for good measure and it was good to go. Ran the line from the compressor to the tank and put a female coupling on the tank. I open my back window for easy access. The tank doesn't help a lot, but tends to give the pump a little down time between tires.
