There is a audio input socket that will over-ride all radio and media.

I am thinking big now to install a karaoke system.
Basically want to use my phone to pump out music, and using an ebay audio mixer to mix line signal from a micro phone.
The mixer doesn't amp the signal, I am using factory audio amp after the mixer mix signal.

Does it work?

It should work in theory, my only thought is how you'd power the mixer? You could even just use a splitter backwards, then use the volume on your phone to level out with the mic. Good luck with it! :)

I don't know why the OP would, but I have spent many a night singing in my JL, and my previous vehicles before that. Its the one place I can go and rock out, sing, basically be as loud as I want to without waking the wife and baby. I never hooked up a mic, but to each their own ;)

singing by yourself or with the Mrs is not Karaoke...It is normal. But to invite people to sing while your driving would want me to hit a tree....

Another question is about dual battery, does wranglers factory second battery is isolated by battery isolator?

During engine start stop, the main battery is not used, but what about leave the car on in park.

Say I leave audio on for a while, without engine running, will I drain starter battery at all? Or simply run down the secondary one. This is nothing to do with karaokes but all kinds of party or music use. Using 8 speaker in campsite is very appealing.

I think there is a lot of misinformation out there on the dual battery system. The bottom line is that both batteries are ALWAYS running in parallel with 2 exceptions:

1 - during startup, for a microsecond, the batteries are isolated so that the ECU can make sure the AUX battery has the voltage available to work during an auto shut off

2 - an auto shut off event - the ONLY purpose of the AUX battery is to power the vehicles electronics when the engine has automatically shut down during a stop, like at a stop light or during traffic.

Therefore, if you turn the ignition on to listen to music, you will drain both batteries equally. Your best bet, if you want to rock out for an extended amount of time, is to get a good smart charger and just charge the batteries during and after the session.

If you know what you're doing, I don't think it would be that hard to wire in a battery isolater switch like I had on my boat. This would allow you to select which battery you want at anytime, without ever completely disconnecting the power source from the jeep. When you listen to music you could set the switch to the AUX battery thus disconnecting the main, then when ready to start set it to the main battery thus disconnecting the AUX, and once started turn back to both.

However, if you start only on the main battery, you'll get an error to service the ESS system, unless you unplug the PCR relay.

The easiest way to do karaoke is to use an app on an Android tablet or iPad and then just connect to the Jeep with Bluetooth. You can do all your mixing in the app.
