I for being one have been questioning the axle width thingy, for the reason I stated before.
I.e. with my own Rubi as an example:
Changing the ET value of my wheels by 30mm, makes the pizza cutter size tires (255mm wide) pass my fenders about a 13 to 15mm already.
If my Rubi would be equipped with 285mm wide tires similar as to the US ones, then with my current wheels, the tires would even pass the fenders by 30mm ( the current 15mm + 285-255/2 = 30mm).
Conclusion - if I were to have 285mm wide tires on the stock wheels, the tires would be flush with the fenders, so.... how is that about being less wide? Do the stock 285mm on US Rubicons pass the fenders from the factory then, or do they have wider fenders?
This is a ET value changed by 30mm, in combination with a 255mm wide BFG KO2.
(and yes, I do know Dana makes the axles
