While I don't get to go off-road much in Atlanta, the off-roading I do is mainly on my parents property out in the country that's basically all moderately dense forests. Anything off the established trails has a lot of limbs, which are an enemy of Jeep windshields. I have several turnbuckles, as well as excess cable leftover from my hood latch install, so wanted to make my own limb risers. I can easily machine small brackets to mount to the hood latches, but what's more difficult is the mount to the A-pillar/windshield frame. Has anyone done any kind of DIY limb riser setup where the mount to the A-pillar did not involve a roof rack/light bar mount (don't have either) or drilling into and riveting into the metal (which I'd prefer not to do)?
One idea I had was to fold the windshield, wrap galvanized hanger strap (like pictured below) around the remaining windshield frame and leave a connection point hanging out the top when the windshield is folded back into place. Thoughts?
