Chalk me up as joining the frozen Uconnect club (8.4), it happened yesterday while out on a trail where the screen locked up completely. It was displaying google maps on Apple CarPlay and suddenly the map went black (everything else was still there) but it wouldn’t respond to any touch. Volume controls on the steering wheel still worked, same with the knob. A/C still worked as well. Pulled the F97 fuse, radio came back but I lost my Off-Road Pages and majority of climate control (only the heater works unless I turn the A/C to Max). Tried disconnecting the battery for a minute, no change. Satellite radio was still working for a couple of hours then suddenly that stopped and completely disappeared as well. Drove home a few hours later with a couple of start/stop/offs and no change. Based on what I’ve read here of similar incidents, it may reset itself? It looks like most of my settings are still there except for the screen color appearance reverted.

@ChuckQue

As a user of Carplay and Google Maps, do be very sure to routinely clear cache's on apps, Google Play Services and Google Maps.

When you do a reset as you did with the F97 fuse pull, it is typical to see Off Road Pages, XM, etc., go missing... What I found works quite well over the last 3+ years... is to with motor running pull F97, wait say 10 seconds and plug F97 back in. Now, go back in the JL and turn ignition off, open drivers door, wait a minute and then restart the JL..... Most always if I do as mentioned all comes back to normal on the restart..

Fortunately, these days I rarely see ORP's go missing, etc.. I do have Fuse F97 marked with some white out so I can find F97 easily... F97 is my friend.. 8-)

Note: Things I mention above are also relevant for the Android Auto user.

Should I go back and pull the F97 fuse again, but in the manner you described? When I pulled it, I had the vehicle off and asleep.

@ChuckQue

You may just find that when you start up this morning all will be aok. If not.... then yes, try the F97 dance I mentioned.

Remember what I said about clearing those app cache's. Doing so is prudent, even if that is not what caused this recent UConnect hiccup.

Thank you sir, I will give that a try if I don’t see any change today!

Success! You were correct, the radio fixed itself yesterday and is back to normal. Thanks for the info!
