55,000 miles in on my 2018 JLUR with 3.6 and towing my 'squaredrop' over the high mountain passes here in Colorado at highway speeds (long runs at high revs under load), I really felt there were some problems with the motor. Just got the report from my shop, sure enough I've got cam damage.

Religious about oil changes, only run full syn (usually Amsoil) factory spec.

Must have been going bad for a while, but damn.

Appears OP was working the engine under load. Anyone have this problem with mostly empty conditions?

Op, sorry to hear about your troubles and hopefully you get this resolved under warranty and or with minimum expenses. Keep reporting to us please as some of us will be doing this at one point or another.

As for for engine failure. I dont think its as bad as everyone makes it seem to be..

1: 50K+ miles is 3 year of driving to some.. to me its a 7 year of driving.. Thats allot of years before i have to worry about it!

2: Op reported he was towing and going uphill constantly for periods of time and on regular basis so the 50K might end up being something around the 70K+ for normal use

3: Finally, the type of failure is just ok in my opinion.. it starts to fail and gives audible notices, it gives lots of time and chances to hear it and fix it, its not catastrophic unless someone just keeps driving.. so to me i am not worried about this AT ALL

Hope Op gets it repaired, good luck
