Exactly this. Vehicles are becoming more disposable, just like a laptop or a phone, hence why half the engine is seemingly made out of plastic now.
You might think so. But, I remember when if you hit 100,000 miles on a car, you either had to rebuild the engine, or Junk it, because of the rust, and other problems. They were just easier to work on back then, if you needed to replace things on the engine. I am only recalling American cars, and English cars. American cars were a pile of crap, back in the 70's, and early 80's.
Now, we comp!ain if our cars don't make.it to 300,000 miles, rust free, with the original batteries.
