Just picked up my JLUR last night and have had a hell of a time getting the Bluetooth set up.

It goes through the normal process but eventually the phone says "Unable to connect - please make sure all devices are on and then try connection again".

The phone shows up in the paired phones menu but just won't connect.

Just to add I previously had a 15 JKU and had no issues with Bluetooth.

Any one have any ideas?

I had a lot of trouble pairing and, once paired, keeping the connection with a Samsung Galaxy S4 on my 2017 Grand Cherokee's Uconnect 8.4 Nav system. This same phone worked fine on my 2012 and 2014 JKs; my wife's Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini works fine on the 2017 GC. I talked to FCA Uconnect Support and they had me try various things - none of which worked. The Galaxy S4 wasn't listed as one of the models that they "officially" supported, so FCA said "too bad". I also sought help from Samsung and my phone provider. Jeep blamed Samsung and/or Verizon, Samsung blamed Verizon and/or Jeep, and Verizon blamed Samsung and/or Jeep! My guess is that is was actually due to Bluetooth's technically vague protocols. I ended up getting a Samsung Galaxy S8 which works OK.

Is your phone listed as one that is supposed to work per Uconnect's list?

Sounds like you had the same issues I'm having. Sadly a 600 upgrade is the only thing that will fix it. Not cool.

It's an HTC U11 and it's technically listed but I have an unlocked version with the latest version of android. I put a call in to the uconnect team but I honestly don't think there's much anyone can do because like you said it's going to lead to a blame game.

Just frustrating that this phone has worked with every bluetooth device it's been around and now this. Not cool for a 50k vehicle.

Thanks for the reply JF

Maybe it has something to do with your device not having the latest OS available at the time that the updated Uconnect systems were made. that's why your S8 worked and not your S4. Happened with my Altima's Bluetooth, older generation phones were not compatible without updating the phones OS, and even then depending how old that device was and what the latest OS was it may or may not pair. Good thing it works now, after going from one car that had Bluetooth to another car without Bluetooth, I can no longer imagine how I went without it for so long.

Did you purchase it unlocked? Or did you root or unlock the phone? What version OS are you running on your HTC 11 android 6 7 8 or 9? LMK I'll talk to a couple of my buddies who works for a cell service provider and I'll get in touch with my Tech/Mech at my Dealership see if we find out what's going on for you.

The Uconnect system connects to newer Android and Apple phones. The Bluetooth itself is not the issue. It is the phone's OS.

Yeah it's unlocked purchased directly from HTC running Oreo 8.0.0 with the December security patch 2.42.617.6. Haven't rooted this one so it's bone stock. Maybe I should put a custom rom on it.

For the sake of eliminating that it might be the phone, have you tried wiping the cache parition?

Hey thanks for trying to help out. Right now I'm down to a few options, waiting for HTC to push 8.1, Uconnect getting updated, or a new phone that catches my eye comes out.

Nope. No one has a clue. Right now waiting for U12 to come out or the Pixel 3 later in the year. Maybe even the new Nokia Sirocco if it get's released here in the US.
