Thought the community could help me figure out how to make sure the AMP Power Running Boards "retract" when removing the doors for a day of fun.

1. If powered thru aux switch, turn off while retracted.
2. If powered direct from battery, pull fuse while retracted

AMP makes a rocker switch that mounts easily in the panel below steering wheel, which can activate the board to deploy or retract. We have tube doors and simply reach in to activate the switch, once in hit it again to retract. If you go doorless, even easier as the switch would be very easy to reach.

Thx.

I actually figured it out. If I open/close the rear door, they retracted.

I will need to

When I installed mine I used the switch and harness that AMP offers for override control, but I mounted it in the windshield trim panel above the rearview mirror and mounted my control box under the carpet on the passenger seat. I also wired the main power to an Aux switch, so I have full control of the steps and can easily lock them up or down at will by turning off the Aux switch when they're in the desired position. If main power is wired constant, the override switch only keeps them in that position for about 30 minutes, then whenever a door is opened or closed they revert back to default operation.

By using the Aux switch power and putting the control box under the seat, nothing had to run into the engine compartment and I eliminated their bulky fuse assembly. I dropped the step/light feeds out of the drain plugs under the seats and jumped the driver's side over to that drain plug by running under the center console instead of doing the crossover under the cab.
