@dragoneggs / anyone else in the future that's interested: at the risk of exposing myself as the obsessive I can be sometimes, I finished off the aluminum table on my rear bumper spreadsheet (since there aren't that many, went through and did all I could find). Other than the notes field, I tried to leave off any "interpretations" of the data based on my own preferences (weight to price ratio, what features are requirements for me, etc.). Prices are meant to a be a total costs based on extra parts needed (spare adjustment, license plate). Thus they are in carts and ready to purchase, including shipping/taxes (to VA) and any discounts I could find.

There's too many steel ones in to do this in general, but several of the lighter steel ones are pretty competitive with these on weight so I'll eventually do those. Let me know if I got typo'd/got something wrong or there's another one I need to check out

Great chart. Couple notes on the Roam Pioneer. I have had it on my JLURD for about 18 months...see picture a couple posts ago. The 55 lbs you have listed has to include the Roam hitch. The bumper itself probably weighs 20lbs max. My eight year old daughter picked it up with one hand (see pick on my build thread). Also while Roam sends the hitch as part of it, the bumper does fit over the OEM hitch. I just left my OEM hitch on instead of swapping them out. What the Roam bumper does not fit over is the OEM trailer wiring plug. That required cutting a section out of the bumper. Also, the Roam does work for 33" OEM Rubicon tires, but not for 35s. The factory rear bumper with factory tire mount worked with 35s. The Roam bumper did not, required an aftermarket tire carrier that lifted up the tire a bit. Also the Roam does have cutouts for lights. It will fit two cube lights on each side.

Thanks! There's a lot of variables at play here and I couldn't capture anything but tried to do what I could. Will update my table with your info.

Oh wow I did just click through your thread, it looks like a toy she's holding. Wish I got into stuff like this that young. Anyway I personally don't have the factory tow package, but do have an aftermarket Quadratec hitch receiver installed, which would make the bumper a lot lighter on its own since it's not fully integrated.

I also have the Quadratec wiring harness and plan to do it (some day...). From the pictures on your thread vs the Quadratec site it doesn't seem like there'd be an issue (for me). Also good note on the 33s vs the 35s with this one. Not likely to affect me much, but I bet a lot of others would care.

Do you know if Roam charges shipping? Their site is....not the best. Couldn't tell if they didn't, or it just wasn't updating. Also how did you make yours black? (powder coat?). Is there a rough cost? (I've never done that before...my guess is a couple hundred from the Next venture options).

They do charge shipping, but I really don't remember how much and since I got mine a couple years ago I am sure the shipping has changed, probably substantially. The black was an option when I bought mine. They either shipped bare aluminum or black powder coated (for a small upcharge).

Hey Billy... nicely done! I will definitely use this. Looks like RockHard and Next Venture are at the top of my list. Need to take a closer look at Evo based on this info.

I can vouch for the EVO rear bumper.

I like the weight! I don't like the license plate location. Looks like that will tear off as it hangs out past the body?

Did you find someone to powder coat it? If so, cost?

I think I need to find a shop around here. Sometimes I weld up simple brackets and other metal work but need to finish them properly.

I mounted my plate to the rear tire.
Yes I got it powder coated for $200.

Gotcha thanks for the info. I didn't initially love the obvious branding, but the name is ok enough to where I might get over it. Especially it it truly is that light I'm much more interested. I just sent them an email to ask for weight specs without the hitch, powder coating black, and shipping costs.

You might want to consider Roam too. @Themistocles has made it sound super light without the provided hitch, and a bit cheaper than a couple of the others. I'll update once I get some new figures.

love that. Which paint did you use? The Surf Blue?
Jeep Wrangler JL ALUMINUM bumpers ONLY. Let's see them! BlueHooks
So, there are two different "blues" on the 4xe. The hood decal and other details are a pearl blue that I think is close the Surf Blue Pearl. The hooks are a lighter color that appears closer to the Chief Blue. Even though I wish the two blues were the same, I wanted to stay as close as possible to the original.

I used this Rustoleum product "Painters Touch 2X Ultra Cover" that is pretty close, the color is called Oasis Blue. Here it is on the recovery points for my rear bumper, compared with the original rear hook.

Even though the original hooks are glossy, I went with this satin to match the finish on the bumper better. It looks great, but I'm not sure how great of a coat I got on there. It chipped off a little at the corners as I banged the hooks around before I got them mounted. I expect to touch it up every now and then. Admittedly, I didn't do very good surface prep on them.

There is another Rustoleum product "Gloss Protective Enamel" that is probably a better product for this. The matching color is called Maui Blue and it's glossy. Also, there is supposedly a Krylon called "Lagoon Blue" that is very close, but I could not find it in stock anywhere online.

I took a break from research on this, but no responses to me from @ROAM on my questions about their aluminum bumper. They only have an email contact on their website but haven't responded to either of my messages. They don't seem active on here either... Are they an active company?

I have heard about the difficulty in contact from a few different folks, not sure what is going on with the company. Try their Facebook site...I have heard that that sometimes gets a better response from them.

Interesting, while the page itself doesn't seem very active, I at least see a different email address and even a phone number listed. Can't hurt sending an email to that also.
