Be forewarned that dealers often suggest replacing both batteries at the same time. This is going to get expensive and fast if your aux battery has a short lifetime.

There are literally dozens of threads on this and you owe it to yourself to do the research and make a decision. I would venture a guess that a majority of us have done the aux battery delete as the benefits are many and the costs few

Yep, as several have said, fast and easy...ditch the whole auxiliary battery setup, buy good main battery and permanently disable ESS.

Some color commentary on the above. Mike's absolutely correct. It even makes sense *if you want to run both batteries* that if one needs replacement, both should be replaced. This is recommended given the parallel connection between the batteries and the potential for an aging one to suck the life out of a newer one.

Here's the kicker: dealers have to tow the company line, which is to equip the dual AGM battery JL with both batteries. And if someone wants to run ESS events, I think this a good idea.

But if you're not committed to ESS events, you are better off (in the dual AGM battery JL) bypassing the Aux battery (and pulling Fuse 42 and turning off ESS). The additional amps the Aux battery provides for cranking is an extremely small and unnecessary plus versus the con of either battery (most likely the Aux) crapping out and, given the parallel connection between the two batteries, sucking the life out of the other battery.

Perhaps others have, but I've never heard of a dealer denying service because of this. If they didn't expressly visualize the cables on the main battery, most techs would not even know this were the case, nor would any diagnostic equipment detect it being disconnected provided Fuse 42 were pulled, unless someone by some far fetched reason asked a tech to figure out why their Power Control Relay (PCR) fails to energize after pulling Fuse 42 (the very thing a Fuse 42 pull does): likelihood zero.

Guys, Im trying to find equivalent of Aux14 battery in Europe. According genesisoffroad com, aux battery sizes are 145.8mm high, 80.9mm width and 149mm lengh.
I found in Europe this alternatine:
VARTA YTX16-BS (ETN: 514 902 022)
Technical specifications – VARTA YTX16-BS (X514902022)

  • Voltage: 12 V
  • Capacity: 14 Ah
  • Cold cranking amps (CCA): 210 A (EN)
  • Dimensions (LĂ—WĂ—H): 150 Ă— 87 Ă— 161 mm
  • Terminal position: Positive terminal on the left
  • Type: AGM, maintenance-free battery (delivered dry – Freshpack)
Comparison with my dimensions
  • My dimensions: height 145.8 mm, width 80.9 mm, length 148 mm
  • Battery dimensions: height 161 mm (about 15 mm taller), width 87 mm (about 6 mm wider), length 150 mm (only 2 mm longer)

My question: Will it fit even its higher apx 15mm or 0.59inch?
