All-weather mats question

I bought the Mopar mats and just didn't cut the holes in the carpet. No problems with fitment and maybe I'm in the minority here, but I don't see myself hosing the Jeep interior down, so can't really see the benefit in my particular use case.

Plus, the thought of cutting the carpet made me cringe. Lol

But dont they sort of stick up because of the molded plug inserts? They wont lie flat will they?

Very slightly, but not enough to bother me. The two "buttons" still click into the carpet without issue.

wouldn't that make the water (or whatever liquid) actually get to the carpet below the mat though? To me it's more about the functionality of it than the visuals.

The drain in the Mopar liners is 100% about function over form. As a user noted in another post, if you push the drain provision down into the hole enough, it'll pop into place and seal off just as well as the rubber plug did to begin with.

Having said that, I don't plan on driving my new $40,000 Wrangler through lakes so I'm not concerned about it. I like the ability to wash and rinse the mats clean while they're in the vehicle. It's a feature unique to the Wrangler. Why not take advantage of it?

The mopar all weather mats is pretty nice. The rubber and the drain holes is a nice touch. The one negative is the side wall is a lot lower than the weatherTech.

I definitely get your point - here are some pics below. You're correct, if I spilled something, it would get into the little oval that is left exposed to the carpet, but the likelihood of that in my situation is very slim and if so, I'm ok with that risk.

I bought them because as you see, the dirt, rocks, etc would make the stock mats look like hell (this is after about a day after washing them because I went hiking). But as for liquids, it's less of a worry for me as I rarely drink anything in the car and won't be rinsing the interior or driving through anything crazy. I just wanted the ability to remove them and spray them down when dirty.

As you can see in #2, the hump is very slight and is barely noticeable.

You can actually buy the plugs on line and insert them into the floor mats. If you do that, you need not worry about the mats leaking through. Thanks for these pix! I am inclined to get the OEM mats now that I know you dont have to plug them in.

That seem to be install incorrectly. You have to cut the carpet at that area out (carpet at drain is precut) and the drain plug is inserted into the hole (that way, the mat will be flush to the floor) There’s an existing drain plug cap from the floor that will fit exactly into the mat.
The drain plug from the mat is not a hole, it’s more like a funnel. No water should accumulate there.

Yes, it technically is installed incorrectly. I did not want to cut a hole in the carpet, so I didn't. I didn't want to deal with unplugging/replugging every time I sprayed the mat down. As it is right now, I can just lift and go. I was just showing that you don't have to cut the hole in the carpet in order to use the all weather mats. I wanted them for dirt protection so my stock carpet liner or stock mats weren't destroyed.

As mentioned, I'm not the use case that these mats were made for, but I made them work for me. I don't plan on spraying the interior down, therefore don't need quick and easy access to drain liquid from the interior.

I was the same way when I heard that you have to cut the carpet but when I realize Jeep had already precut the hole I end up pulling it out completely.
But for your situation, I think you can lift up the carpet without fully detaching it and grab the drain cap from underneath and use it for the mats if you want.

The first thing I do when I buy a new car - I buy Weather Tech floor mats. For my JLUR I purchased the Mopar mats. I think they are every bit the same value as Weather Tech. I love my mats. I take my Weather Techs out of the car about 3 times a year to get really clean, otherwise I just vacuum with them in the car. The Mopar product fits really well, Weather Techs usually fit really good, but not as well as I see these Mopar mats. Anyway that is just my experience. Great product. I will buy Weather Tech's for any future car but I recommend the Mopar's for the JL. I love the Jeep logos and little icons and map relief on the mats. A great looking product.

I am the same way. I've always had Husky and been a loyal Husky customer (they're tough mats!) but boy I like the drain-hole on the MOPAR ones! Here's to hope the Husky's come with a drain-hole too!

The red Jeep letters alone were enough to make me not want the mopar mats.

I almost went with the Mopar ones but waited and got the Weathertechs instead. No regrets. The fronts go higher and cover more by the footwell area and the rear also has a lip around the liner. Either mat is better than stock.

I thought these were not out yet?
