Have a stock suspension 4xe rubicon. I added wider wheels (17x8.5) and 35s (315/70/17). Is an alignment necessary from a 33 to 35 and wider wheels? I am reading usually toe needs to be slightly corrected.

I paid $120 at Firestone for an alignment after installing 35's only to find that everything was within spec...no alignment needed, your mileage may vary...

If your alignment is already within spec, you will not need an alignment for just adding tires. You only need to worry about an alignment when adding a lift, and this is only to recenter the steering wheel. This can even be done at home. At no point do you need to adjust your tie rod unless you are replacing a worn tie rod end or bent your tie rod/tie rod end. Or if you have replaced with upgraded steering components. In my opinion as a technician for 12+ years your alignment should not be off after an initial alignment, unless you hit something or damaged it off road. If this happens all components should be inspected closely and replaced if necessary. Some others may disagree, but I have followed this for many many years and have never had tire wear issues.

As a Jeep nobody with very little technical experience and minimal mechanical know how other than what I have done to my own Jeep and/or read from total strangers on this forum, I agree with the experienced technician above me. ??

And I did get an alignment, but only after I installed a rubi takeoff suspension.

Changing tires does not require an alignment. If a shop recommends it, find a new shop.

Firestone recommending an alignment is a perfect example of who to avoid. They are awful!

I went for an alignment after installing the mopar lift and adding 35s. Dude at the shop was a jeeper. After he finished the work he passed me the keys and said have a good day. I told him I hadn't paid yet and he said he didn't need to do a thing to it. Free alignment check with good results FTW.
