Sounds like a great phase 3.
So phase 3 is temporarily on hold. And I decided to do a phase 2.25 and 2.5.

Phase 2.25 is mounting RotopaX fuel jugs to the roof rack so when I go on long adventures, I have enough fuel to get from point A to point B. That being said, I’ve come to learn with an Eco Diesel on 42’s, your gas mileage is absolutely horrid. And at 13 miles to the gallon, plus having a dinky little fuel tank, you don’t get far. About 210-240 miles per tank. All depending on road conditions, traffic, etc. So with mounting 4 (3 gal) Jugs, in theory should give me an additional 150 miles of range. 360-390 is way more acceptable.

As for phase 2.5, I decided to upgrade the face of this beast and give her a more modern look. All in the name of cooling her down more during our summer months. So… she will have a current model grille. And for those that thought it was going to be an aftermarket grille, you can breathe a little easier. It’s all OEM. Once mounted, I’ll post up a picture.

What axle width and wheel backspace you went with? Looking to jump to 42" but not sure 73" wide axles and 4.75" BS wheels on 4.5" lift is enough... thats my current setup! thanks very much and very cool rig!!! want to follow same route.

Sorry for not responding sooner. This is the busy time of the year for our family businesses. That being said, my rig has:

72.5” Dynatrac 60/80 axles
20”x9.5” with a 4.5” backspacing wheels
1.5” whespacers
R1 Concepts big brake kit

She will always be on 20’s because of the 8 piston front and 6 piston rear calipers.

Thanks for your response!. I just ordered a set of 42" mickey to Chile. So will get them in about 2 months. I've got 73" axles with 17x8.5" 4.75" BS wheels (currently on 40s). Maybe I should get some spacers if I want to get more flex out of it, what you think? Your rig is 5" wider than mine. Are you able to flex no problem?

The reason for the spacers was to clear the front brake calipers. They are massive. The added benefit was better stability and possibly a little bit more flex. My rig was way more twitchy than I would have liked. And after the spacers, it mellowed it out substantially.

That being said, if you can clean 42’s without going wider, I would try that first. Provided that you are comfortable with the way your rig handles. If it’s a bit too twitchy, or even possibly a slight clearance issue, then consider spacers.

Nitto 42’s run very true to size. So what ever your tire size is, subtract it from 41.77 and that is going to be your height increase.
