Oh Shits: If you've ever read my posts, I am a short hopper. My average trip is 5-10 minutes, and I have frequent regens as a result. On occasions when I have more normal usage, I've gotten as high as 300 miles between regens, but usually it's less than 150. As a result, I've had a "cracked" DPF changed out twice in 25K miles - under warranty of course. The DPF will remain under warranty for another 3.5 years, after which, it'll be on my dime ($2K+ parts/labor) if I still own the vehicle.

Atta Boys: I have had only one other issue: the dreaded sun visor clip failure. I fixed that myself in the forum-approved manner for $20. Otherwise 100% issue-free. I don't even have any squeaks or body shudder. My previous Wranglers have always developed noises, but not this one.

Verdict: Even if you are a short hopper, I heartily recommend. The visceral feel of the engine is like no other. Just a drama-free whoosh of power whenever you dip into the throttle. [buy a PedalMonster for full effect]. I've owned much faster vehicles but the low-end torque on this 2.5 ton brick is addictive. It fits the vehicle PERFECTLY. Well worth the potential added cost. And the fuel mileage is amazing for a Wrangler.

I chuckle when forum members have buyers' remorse brought on by the FUD of an EcoDiesel. So...they get rid of a fully-modified Jeep and buildup another one to "save money". You may want to catalog your receipts to see how much you saved after accounting for switching costs. Spoiler alert: you could have paid for ten new DPFs - and - you'll miss the torque delivery. :)

My JLURD has been very reliable at 61,000 miles. The only issue I have had (not engine related, but diesel emission related) was code P20EE. The dealer replaced the DEF pump and DEF injector to correct this issue at 60,000 miles.

I love the low end torque.

I agree, the diesel is the best powertrain. The Jeep has ever seen driving. It is fun every time

I have had a minor oil leak at the crank shaft 2 times the second time. They replace the damper along with the crankshaft seal. And so far, I'm at 10000 miles and have not seen a slight leak again.

From an emission standpoint, thankfully, everything has gone well for me on emissions, I have started using a rislone def treatment.

I use BlueDEF Platinum. I do not use any DEF treatment.

I only use pump def. I've found the boxes can be too old on a shelf. The pump def sees high turnover at the truck stops and tends to be fresh.

Loves uses a def pump blanket in the winter here in Michigan.

Still love mine! 62K and going strong. Had the fuel pump and steering box replaced under warranty! Been running 37s for 52K didn't regear...yet! Pedal Monster and Derringer!

Hell yes man! I put the Rockjock 3.5" lift with Antirock front and rear plus the high steer kit. Everyone compliments the ride noting that most Jeeps ride rough. That plus the 3.0 turbo diesal (no eco on mine ❤)... I'll be keeping this one to my grave!

I enjoy my ecodiesel. As @rickinAZ stated too, I do a lot of short commutes in mine. Roughly 10 miles in the morning dropping kids off, but none is highway speeds max 50 MPH. I regen around 250 miles in town. Road trips I can go the full stint of whatever factory programmed. 30k on the odometer in 33 months.

The engine has been flawless. I change the oil at 5k, fuel filter at 10k. Put a little lubricity in the fuel at fill up.

This will be the Jeep I keep.

I mean how could you not love that whoosh? Also, it's fun when you get asked "is that thing a diesal?!" That low end torque changed my whole rock crawling technique. Rarely have to touch the throttle over a very small percent! Only thing I've had to replace os the fuel pump under recall.

Just over 4 years on hers at 67k and 3 years on mine at 83k. Mine also has a GDE tune and hers has been perfect and I had to get a glow plug replaced at 80k. That is all. The diesel is hands down the best engine ever in a JL.

This is my third Jeep, and I will do everything I can to keep it until my death. Best Jeep ever.

Only 40k miles in 4 years, but it's crushed trails and even did Rocky Gap in Red Rock with stock suspension. My rock rails did some work that day, but that's why they're there.

We tried to fill up at Loves on a road trip and there pump nozzle was too big for the stock def tank, do you have an adapter or something?

Not for def. The nozzle at loves fits perfectly. For fuel there is a funnel near the jack.

I removed the fuel discriminator from the fuel fill line.

I’ll have to check again, thanks!
