Can confirm, my old Alien Shade never flapped.I went back and forth between getting Alien or spiderweb.. I went with Alien and I've had no issues.. no flapping or noise at all.. completely naked at highway speeds and they don't flap.. they are a taut fit for sure..
Wow, ok… that’s good to know, thanks!I'm 6ft and 3 inches. That's one measurement not two. No head rubbing on the alien.
I'm only 5'8".. so not very tall.. but I definitely have plentyWhat about head room? I’m 6 ft tall so that is a concern.
Any issues with scratching the paint with kikbax?Kikbax are the way to go
a)when you go off-road in woods, branches hit your mirrors. I would hit branches at 40-50mph with the kikbax. The thinner ones would literally wrap around them and pull the branches out. I didn’t realize how tough mirrors needed to be.
B)no vibrations, i tested up to my speed limiter of 97mph
C)no tools or screws for install. They slide right into place
I’ve seen all the options out there, and they are the GOAT.
Also, safari mode is the best mode ever. I can’t imagine spending money for something in between safari and open top.
Also, taking your doors off is really about how much of a pain in the ass it is. Because everybody in the forum would take their doors off if they could just have them magically on and off at any time. I found the ultimate method to minimizing the effort so you can just take them off and on whenever you want.
-leave all bolts off
-push the cammed door hinge thingy into the door so its not used
-use the kikbax mirrors
-get door hangers close as possible to whereever you park your jeep.
You literally just roll your windows down, unplug all the doors, lift them right off the hinges, and throw your mirrors on. The whole process takes me less than 3 minutes. Same with install.
For the winter I reinstall the door hinge cam thing.

Kikbax = no issues with paint. The steel and paint coating are tougher than the jeeps.Any issues with scratching the paint with kikbax?
I do love safari mode but thinking of leaving soft top off all together sometimes so want the option of the sunshade.
Leaving all bolts off is a trick I learned last summer when I broke one of the bolts taking it out
Not sure I would want to leave the hinge disconnected for fear of the door opening too much and being damaged. Will definitely take a look at that though. Thanks!
Yeah, been on highway with doors off, not exactly comfortable but sometimes needed to get to certain places. Definitely use more around town and back roads.Added mirrors to run with doors off safely. They seem to work fine. Some vibration at 30 mph, but they work fine at 70 mph. You don't really want to spend too much time on the interstate with the doors off ... it's a bit blowy. When the doors are off it just feels like you should be slow cruising - enjoy the ride - nothing to get in a hurry about.

I remember when my kids were that young. Wish I had my jeep back then, now they just keep asking to drive it..lol.Sunrider mode: the kids are standing in the back seat, holding on to the speaker bar. Look closely and you can see the back seat head rest. Behind the kids you can see the folded back soft top - it takes 60 seconds to open or close. It's stable open at highway speeds. You can't see but the side and rear windows are in as normal (aka not removed). So a quick flip, clip, clip and in 60 seconds I am fully buttoned up and protected from rainstorms.
DON'T FORGET TO LATCH the latches when you close it - it will SELF OPEN at 40 mph. Very scary.

Not gonna lie, I do like those! hmmmm..
I'm assuming this is with the two piece shade or is it the one piece? Can confirm, my old Alien Shade never flapped.
I do like the jtops but more than I want to spend on sunshade. I was pushing myself thinking about spiderweb so was actually hoping Alien would be good. Thanks for the reply.https://www.jtopsusa.com/product-page/Jeep-Wrangler-JL-Sun-Shade-Top
Look at the third picture in. Yes it costs more than the others. But the strap for the bars, and the magnet at the front means that it has no loose fabric to flap around, and it offers better coverage across the bars.
The 2 piece Alien, which didn't flap. The 1 piece Spiderweb, which did flap.I'm assuming this is with the two piece shade or is it the one piece?
Ok, thank you for explaining that. The 2 piece Alien, which didn't flap. The 1 piece Spiderweb, which did flap.
People were saying the 1 piece Spiderweb was supposed to flap less than their 2 piece because air couldn't get under the back piece. The back portion of the 2 piece also sits above the center roll bar for some odd reason. It turns out their 1 piece also flaps badly.
It's possible mine is just defective...
