I'm thinking of my next project and might get a front bumper. What do I need to know? What should I look for? I'm looking at one and I know it's all personal preference, but what are thoughts on this bumper?

I don’t like tubes.

But your requirements seem sound.

If you haven't done so already, consider going through the posts in the aftermarket bumper & exterior mods threads here. Know which manufacturers to be wary of, which are solid & trustworthy, etc. What's more important... cost, quality (hopefully quality)... aluminum vs. steel...style vs. substance... Before I replaced my factory plastic, I scrubbed the forum for opinions & warnings.

It looks like it was designed for the JK, although JK front bumpers will fit up to the JL frame, the style just feels wrong.

What bumper(s) did you go with?

If you waited this long and are undecided, wait until after SEMA. Something new may catch your eye. But it may take the manufacturers a little while to catch up with demand.

I agree totally. In just a short time the largest trade show for the automotive industry will be taking place and companies know a lot of people are looking for JL accessories. I personally like the winch to be recessed as I feel it looks cleaner but its totally a personal choice. I went with the LOD full width signature series (as a bonus it works with the factory halogen fogs too.)

There are to main things I don't like about the bumper in the first post. The first is that it is very angular and does not go well with the body lines in my opinion. Secondly, if you mount a winch it will be on top of the bumper blocking some of the cooling airflow for the engine.

Thanks. I like how that rear bumper is balanced. I hate that the JL has an unbalanced rear bumper. How’s the weight and your overall opinion on the rear ICI bumper?

I’m getting greedy but I'd like to see the side of that rear bumper.
