When I bought what I thought was factory remote start kit, there was nothing in the box except two new fobs with the remote start buttons on it. I was confused and thought something needed to be installed in my vehicle to enable remote start. Nope, dealer program and remote start worked on the two new fobs.I guess I'm confused as to the need for key fob programing. The Jeep detects three horn beeps and it starts the engine. The key fob, on mine at least, is "dumb" and is oblivious as to what it's doing, other than sounding the horn.
In the older JL, a piece of hardware had to be installed and the new fobs be programmed. That’s not the case anymore..
I think it was about $250 for the new fobs and $100 for the dealer to program. I’m not sure why anyone with a newer JL would go to aftermarket when it’s pretty cheap and super fast to go factory
