I got my 2024 2dr Willys and love the vehicle (moving on from a 2015 Willys). I ordered the standard package (aside from the anvil color, no additional options). I did not realize that there would be a volleyball sized black box under the rearview mirror to house the the adaptive cruise camera. That is a feature I do not use and turned it off meditatively from the dash options. Would have ordered a Sport w/o adaptive CC and built it up to a Willys - had I known (also do not know how much I could actually package to really get that build with factory parts....).

This black box really impacts the periphery view and does block the open feel of the jeep I have come to know and love since my first CJ7. I would be 100% more happy with a simple mirror and map light (which is amazing that they do not supply in the JLs!)

I know it is a longshot - since it is probably tied to entire brain of the vehicle, but is there a way to safely remove this? Has anyone looked into options? I normaly am not very picky, but this is pretty annoying and I am surprized Jeep engineers thought it was a well executed solution.

Put it up for sale on the forum willing to bet someone will buy it and pay dealer to swap there normal stuff in. However, it’s probably all tied together and will cause lifter ticking and death wobble if removed

You paid extra for it, and now you want it gone?

I don't notice that black box at all, but then again I use adaptive cruise a lot. It makes those long distance drives so much less stressful.

Well I know mine is there. Does not bother me in the least. I enjoy it

You can activate automatic high beams for free if you have jscan which are nice too. Makes it not quite as useless.

I hated it at first, still kinda do, but you get used to it.

Just do not forget to flip the rear-view mirror 180 degrees (although not sure if that is still the thing on 2024, it worked well on my 2021 Willys), it clears good 1.5" below the mirror. Than, the mirror is in your view and the ACC box is "invisible" behind the mirror...

If you just fold your windshield down, problem solved. Being a smart ass aside, just try it on your next long trip, makes for a relaxing drive.

For what it’s worth, I love the adaptive cruise, lane change warning, rear cross traffic warning and backup camera.

The camera stays up behind the mirror even with the window folded down...
? ? forgot I put that plastic cover in a drawer somewhere. If you’re determined to remove it, might try some salvage yards and see if you can switch out the header from a non Adaptive Jeep.

Even if you remove the box, you'll still have a big black rectangle on the windshield blocking your view unless you also swap out the windshield.

I despise ACC and keep it turned off, but don't mind the box or even notice it. I have one Jeep with it and one without and it's never been an issue for me.

Only if you get the safety group with the led rail lights and blind spot monitoring. Otherwise no auto highbeam for you!
You have the box without that safety package? What year is yours? I ordered my 2021 and the only way to get auto high beams was to get the advanced safety package which also forced the basic safety package.
