I live in a somewhat traffic, heavy area, where this is a normal occurrence, sounds like the system will not work for me then. It seems a little touchy.
Like any tool you have to know when to use it, I live in NJ and using it where appilcable I have not had an issue in four years.
It's best used in light traffic on highways and rural single lane local roads.
Of course the driver has to maintain alertness to always be ready to take over, as with any tech.

I live mostly rural only use on highways. I tried it driving up to end of highway with cars stopped at streetlight. It brakes accordingly to a stop behind guy stopped for light.

This is what I was looking for, thanks. It just sounds like Jeep subversion of this is kind of crappy and there’s no settings you can do to fix it. It really makes no sense to know a vehicle is up ahead of you and to ride up on it at 68 miles an hour and have to slam on your brakes to get you down to 66 because you get close enough. It should just slow you down gradually as you get there. And again, I know my wife’s new Subaru ascent Will even take into consideration that if somebody cuts you off, and they’re still going faster than you, it will just let off of the acceleration to slow you down, not slam on your brakes and possibly have somebody behind you. Rear end.
yup super hard braking when not needed...even worse if on a really curvy road and it thinks you are going to hit the guard rail. I wish there was a way to tame it but I have not found a way. driving curvy two lanes or heavy traffic I turn it off.

it is also useful in heavy traffic, though if somebody does suddenly cut in, the system will brake hard. I find that it takes some of the stress out of bumper to bumper traffic, I man the steering wheel it mans the gas/brake function, under my supervision of course.

I use ACC probably 95% of the time. Every once in a while the stop is a little aggressive, but for the most part it stops slow and steady. I have the gap on the largest. Regardless of its quirks I'll never have a vehicle without it. GM's super cruise, and Stellantis hands free driving is awesome. I'd love to have that system.

I can't imagine having the gap set to the largest setting. That's way too much distance for my taste. I'm usually at the closest setting and dial it back a bit when on rural roads.

It has its place but not every place. It's true that in NJ it will make you the "road wuss" who lets everyone merge in front of you who remotely tries. But this is avoidable.

All you need to do is press the accelerator the slightest bit to signal "I see it, ignore it" and it will up to the point of real collision avoidance.

You might not get this much in NJ but this is always needed for cyclists in a bike lane. ACC will always hit the brakes as if you're going to run over the cyclist even though they are in a bike lane to the right of your lane. Again, the slightest press of the accelerator "I see it, ignore it" and it will ignore the cyclist.

It's erring on the side of caution and you get used to it.

I will try this out. Now just need to fix the lead foot acceleration when somebody pulls out of the lane in front of me. I guess I can just override and accelerate myself to that point. Kinda defeats the purpose but better than nothing I guess.

Don't like rock chips. I actually have the front of the Jeep wrapped in PPF just for that reason.

I love the ACC on long trips but also dislike the redline acceleration that’s usually unnecessary - e.g. transmission jumps from 8th gear down to 4th or 5th, when 7th was sufficient. When using the ACC, I like to switch over to manual mode and just control the downshifts manually when they are occasionally needed.

All Stop, or Full Speed Ahead, if someone moves in front of you it’s all stop to create the distance, repeat until you are going 45 mph on the Fwy. If they move out of your lane full speed ahead to the set distance. Annoying, I only use it in light traffic.

Weird. It's not very aggressive in mine.

Interesting- on another thread several reported complaints about abrupt slowing and jackrabbit accelerating like mine.

It seems to be like clutches or paint: some are fine while others are shit. Quality control at its best.

Have you ever seen these? I installed on my 22 wrangler and it worked really well, until a truck on the interstate at 70 mph threw a huge rock up and it must’ve caught at just the right angle. Otherwise, I had a dozen or so hits that would’ve busted my windshield without it. I called them up and they said they couldn’t replace the windshield but did send me another as a replacement. I saved it for my new jeep!
