Just took the doors off of the fronts hung them and it looks great. However I noticed that the actuator arm is shorter on the passenger side than the driver side …. Is this my design, or did I do something wrong

thx all

Yeah it’s ok. It probably retracted back into the door. This happened to me the first time I took my doors off. You can pull it back out a couple of ways. Either pull it back out with a pair of pliers like I did, or just hang the door back on the Jeep’s hinges, screw in the end and pull.

Yes the center bolt to the frame from the door. I took the door off I was just afraid when I go to put it back on that the arm is too short now. I tried to pull on it slightly but it’s not moving

If you are doing the pliers method, you have to pull hard, not slightly. You’d be surprised at the force applied on it when opening and closing the door. It is designed to hold the door still at multiple intervals of opening so that’s why. I had to give it a good yank with the pliers to get it back out the first time. Or just use the screw-it-back-on-and-pull method.

It’s definitely stiff to pull out but it will. Especially after time. Still after all this time that’s the only non feature I miss from the JK days.

Ok update, I got it extended. Tried the pliers and that did not work then saw a guy on YouTube tie a nylon rope to it and give a good jerk and that didn’t work. So I put the door back on the jeep closed it enough to screw the bolt back in about 4 turns and opened the door and the actuator pulled right on out.

So looks like I’m good, took the door back off and hung it back up.

Thanks for everyone’s suggestions,
Mike
