Jeep says that they drive these things “millions” of miles in testing (or some such crap) during development. They must not have used the ac during those “test” runs, I guess. Or didn’t care.

I believe when you do that, you kill your defrosting ability. This is clearly a design flaw that Jeep needs to fix. We all must complain to FCA in order to get this issue resolved.
I don't live in a cold climate but defrost has still worked fine for me.

Waiting to see that exact reply. I will be doing this this week on my days off for the new year. Gonna be doing fluid service, Oil and rear Diff, so Ill knock that out at the same time.

Easy fix guys. Drop the glove box door, fire up your jeep, turn on the recirc, then disconnect the plug to the motor through the glove box opening.

My wife was ready to shoot the Jeep over this stupid design and now she loves it again
Lol. My wife shot our Jeep over this and a couple other things.

If you do what Toycrusher says but don’t hit the recirc button you will also solve the problem, and will be running the outside air thru the hvac system. You will not be able to recirc the air but the defrost will work fine. Pick your poison based on whatever you prefer.

exactly what I did and no more hot outside air here in Houston but as stated your recirc won’t work anymore for the defrost cycle as bringing in outside air helps do this
