My 2018 JLUR with the 8.4" radio is going crazy with changing stations and asking me if I want to change my clock settings. I've done a hard reboot and removed the screen protector and cleaned the screen. It holds the station for a minute or two then changes to a different preset station. Sometimes it changes from XM to AM. Is there a repair for this? If not is there an easy plug and play that gives me the same functions without the $2500-3000 price tag? Before I replace it completely or just turn it off I plan to remove it and clean all the connections, will that help?

Which hard reboot did you do? Pull the F97 fuse?

It's possible the screen is bad, which can be replaced. They're on eBay for around $150. Do a search for LA084X01-SL02.

I pushed and held on-off and tune for 15 seconds. How would I diagnose if it's just a bd screen?

Probably messed up the sensitivity of the touch screen by putting a screen protector on it. They are not designed for screen protectors but people will sell you and convince you you need whatever it is they have to sell.

I've never put a screen protector on anything since every time I've killed a phone it was with water. Luckily Jeep makes sure that letting it rain with your top off doesn't kill the screen. In other words, ditch the screen "protector" that causes more problems than it solves.

Remember the good ol days before we had to deal with "touch screens"?

I’ve had a Mopar screen protector since day one without a single problem. It’s been four years to date. I’ve seen screens without protectors that have been damaged from dirty fingers, especially during the height of Covid when everyone was using hand sanitizers. YMMV

My 8.4 went haywire once and the volume was either all or nothing. Ended up stopping, breaking out the 10mm and disconnecting the battery and that cured it. As far as screen protectors, I’ve never had one on any touch screen radio or phone.
