While we wait... :)

It's been posted by some (many?) that the radio bezel is "unsightly". I agree. I think if the designers had used radii instead of chamfers it might look better. Round vent, round relief in the bezel. Simple and cohesive. Why they used chamfers around the round vents is mystifying.

The leatherette bolster (dash panel) in the Sahara minimizes the visual impact of the bezel.

Side note: Can we embed images in our posts? I couldn't find an option to do that.

Just drag drop image into the post editor to upload (or click on "Upload a File" and choose a file to upload). After you post your message, the forum software will automatically insert the images at the bottom of your post.

If instead you'd like to embed the image(s) somewhere other than the bottom of your post -- after uploading, below the editor you'll see an "Insert" option appear with thumbnail of the uploaded image(s). Place your cursor where you want to embed the image in your post and then click on Thumbnail/Full Image. That'll insert it wherever you'd like in your post.

I made some negative comments about the bezel when we saw the first real images out of SEMA, but since then, the small details in the final version has made them better. The subtle texture on them which also shows up other places like the steering wheel make it more harmonious than what we first saw. It started as an eyesore to me. Now I don't dislike it.

To me I have a feeling much of the extended bezel is to keep sunlight, and to a lesse extent ‘trail rain’ off the head-unit. I think these challenges are not unique to the Wrangler, but most other convertibles have a reclining seating position that allows for deeper dashes and changed viewing angles.

Just a though, and while I do find it kinda ugly, I hope that like most things Wrangler, that there i a functional purpose to that less than sexy design.

As an afterthought I would love a tinted clear plastic cover that would securely go over that bezel so that I could both cover up the head unit from prying eyes when in undesirable places, but more importantly dim down the radio/nav/etc even further on long back-road trips where I wnt the amenities on, but I want a cabin as dark as possible to aid in spotting suicidal fawna roadside, plus also making it even darker in ‘screen off’ mode when stargazing with the radio on.

I'm shallow as hell when it comes to aesthetics, but it looks perfectly fine to me. It's not like other vehicles where the screen is sticking out like a glued on ipad. Not sure where all this is coming from.

I'm not a fan of the iPad look either. I'm just making comments to pass the time until we see the real deal in person. And perhaps Jeep is watching and taking notes. It's a minor detail. It won't stop me from buying a JL. :)

During the press release today the interior designer mentioned the bezel (should auto start a few seconds before he mentions it, otherwise start at 16:00):

Thanks. Haven't seen that video yet. I need 38 minutes to watch it. :) Cool how you got it to auto start at a specific time.
