Hopefully 67 designs can adjust their price. I like this option but the price is indeed steep. Most of us probably have higher end phones with Jeeps thats not exactly cheap. I'm sure they are banking on that. Proclip is looking attractive if you get it with a code and a universal phone holder.

I ordered the Proclip on Black Friday for 20% off, they emailed me saying my stuff should be back in stock in 10 days. I guess Proclip also gets parts on restriction. I'm still waiting (for now), not sure how long it will be.

I splurged for my phone holder. I move it from the motorhome to the truck to the Jeep. It stays put and will hold big phones. It is crazy exspensive. at $9.95. It comes with several ways to mount it. I just stick it to the windshield,

Does anyone have the 67 designs phone mount? I’m curious how secure your phone is. I went odorless the first time last weekend and realized I needed something besides obsessively checking my pockets to make sure it was still there.

Yep! I responded in the other thread, but I’ll add here. The mount is solid. It doesn’t move in the slightest.

How tight should I crank down on the ball mounts? I just installed the 67 Designs rail, and when I try to put my phone in the sliding mount one handed, it moves the arm to the right. I'm afraid to keep tightening the arm because I don't want to break it. However I seem to recall a video on their website showing the phone going into the mount one handed. Any suggestions?

@tjeeper ... I tighten mine down hard. If the ball joint moves, then you need to tighten it more. I wouldn't be afraid of breaking any of the components. They are well made and quite strong for their use. Although I can't find their warranty policy, they do have great customer service, so wouldn't expect a problem if you're able to break something.

This is how the CMM mount ended up turning out. I'm beyond pumped it doesn't cut into any of your windshield view. Admittedly it is expensive, but you do get the ability to both have mirrors and mount your phone at once.

@TeeravX which ram mount pieces did you get. Looking at doing the same thing. Mounting the CMM ball on the bottom with a RAM swivel mount and the universal X grip holder with 1” ball.

That sounds about right?

Thanks

Sounds correct. Still pretty pumped with how this is working out. I had a roundabout way of getting there. This is the x-grip I ordered (came with the claw that I ultimately decided wasn’t a solution I was pleased with):

This is the shorter arm I ended up grabbing:

Well, I received the ProClip Mount JL today.... Will start by saying that the mount is real nice. Looks good and well made.

Anyway, went to install the mount and geeeeez was it a bugger to get the one end into the opening near the windshield where the plastic curve, needed to go over the lip. At first I thought, no way will I get this thing in that narrow opening. I persisted and it did finally go into the opening and went over the lip.. Can tell you that getting it off will be doable but it is not just going to lift right up and off without some fooling with it.

Long story short, my Scosche Magnetic Dash Mount worked well and mated right up to the end of the ProClip mount. The adhesive on the Scosche gripped firmly. The Scosche mount stuck on the end of the ProClip mount does not look bad at all.. seriously, not bad to look at ...

The magnet on the Scosche held the smart phone well, even on pretty bumpy roads.

Can tell you, no way is that ProClip Mount JL, going anywhere, even if you drive off road with it. It's on there!

Granted the magnetic mount may not do the deed on rough trails, so if you are going to be on real rough trails you may just want to go with the clamp type mount that ProClip sells to go with the ProClip JL Mount.

Can tell you the magnetic mount on the ProClip Mount is slick as chittt and I am very pleased with it. A keeper for sure. So, the ProCLip for JL cost me $26 and the Scosche mag mount cost me $13. So, for a total of $39, I have a hell of a decent smart phone mount. 8-)

Nice thing is with this set-up... the ProClip JL Mount, you can position the mount pretty much anywhere on the dash, you want and easily.. There are no screws to screw, no cutting of mats... the ProClip is non-invasive..

Smart phone can be vertical or horizontal..

Do you know what the distance between the mounting holes are on that JL mount?
