The dealership was finally able to apply the update after saying it didn’t apply to my vin the past 3 trips. The jet engine fan is gone and the engine definitely behaves more normally when the RPMs get lower. Thanks for your updates, they gave me what I needed to stay on it with the dealer!
Hmmm thanks for the info, my build date is Aug 18th (2018) and I can't for the life of me to get them to apply this TSB at the dealership. They keep saying it doesn't apply, but it definitely has all of the symptoms that you have outlined. Jet engine blower when I turn up the fan, and also the...
The first dealership said it drove normally without inspecting it, the second one said they did a full inspection on it and even re-torqued some components down.
Yeah on the stabilizer install I didn't have move the trackbar. If I had screwed it up I would have swallowed my pride and just not posted anything about it.
What irritates me is getting it inspected by the dealership and nobody seeing it. Seems like they are used to writing off the steering...
There is no lift installed, completely stock. (other than the steering stabilizer and draglink). To be clear I would not be messing with steering components willy nilly without following explicit directions and having an understanding of what they do. This has not been tampered with by me...
So you see the bracket behind the circled component? The trackbar (circled) is meant to rest in there and the bolt should go all the way through into that hole you see open hole you see.
Instead of being attached to 2 contact points with the bolt centered through both it was installed outside...
Just a note to other JL owners experiencing steering issues.
I took it to a local dealer who apparently did a full steering inspection. After the inspection the service manager told me, it drives like a Jeep and that standard transmission Wranglers have looser steering than their automatic...
I took delivery in September last year but have not received any UConnect updates yet. I have the 8 inch radio that should receive OTA updates and have also periodically checked the update site with my VIN with no luck. Trying to use carplay with the steering buttons to access siri works 25%...
Can confirm, am super impressed with the fit and finish. No rattles and has worked great so far.
It was just under a month to get mine, and as mentioned above, it really is the best you can get. Well worth it even given the higher price vs other options.
I have the Falcon Nexus 2.2. I don't regret it, and it has helped inspire more confidence in continuing the direction you point the wheel... but I would make sure you temper your expectations. This is not a magic fix for sloppy steering. If you imagine yourself driving in a straight line -...
Sounds correct. Still pretty pumped with how this is working out. I had a roundabout way of getting there. This is the x-grip I ordered (came with the claw that I ultimately decided wasn’t a solution I was pleased with):

This is related to the underlying issue but isn’t about a headliner (I have the mopar ones myself).
The buffeting sound you were talking about was driving me nuts with the hard top. Based on another thread in this forum I ended up rolling over to hobby lobby and stuffing some foam rolls...
This is how the CMM mount ended up turning out. I'm beyond pumped it doesn't cut into any of your windshield view. Admittedly it is expensive, but you do get the ability to both have mirrors and mount your phone at once.

The JL is my first Wrangler and it probably comes with the territory but I was pretty shocked how difficult it is to find a good place to put your phone where it is accessible yet not occupying any of the fairly limited window viewport.
After quite a bit of research I decided to spring for the...
@JIMBOX you were totally right. The Jeep I picked up yesterday had way more defined turning than the one I happened to test drive several weeks before.
There was a mild bit of play initially, then I dropped the tire pressure to spec (45 -> 37) per your recommendation, and it's exactly the kind...
Per the googs "insane" can mean shocking or outrageous depending on the context so I'd maintain my application of the word is fine.
Regarding the price - I am in this instance speaking collectively on what a consumer could pay on their Jeep. I have some discounts in the bag, but the real...
I mean... this "it's a Jeep thing" is out of hand. I think what we have is straight up poor design. Tomorrow I'm supposed to pick up my brand new Jeep and I'm trying to figure out if the steering is like shown in the above videos if I even want to go through with the purchase.
Driving like a...
