One of things that was mentioned in the forum about the Wrangler 4xe is that is has 370HP and 470TQ "all the time". We have a 2024 GC 4xe and the only time that it even comes close to feeling like it has 370/470 is when the battery is charged, and I am either in Hybrid or All Electric mode.

If the battery is discharged and no matter what mode--either Hybrid or ESaver, it runs like a 2.0T vehicle--270HP and 295TQ which is what I would expect. Not sure how (without battery power) the hybrid system is contributing or can be developing 370/470.

Curious if the Wrangler 4xe owners experience the same or if I have some issue with my GC.

Realistically the battery is rarely fully discharged, even 0% has a buffer in it. The most telling time for me is towing.

Try this and see if you like it better, switch esave to the "maintain" version in Uconnect, and swap from hybrid to that while you still have some juice showing.

The battery is always available and contributing, even at the <1% mark. It's a hybrid and is in a constant state of charge/ discharge even if it's never been plugged in.

The only time I ever noticed a serious lack of power in my 4xe Wrangler was when I was towing a boat up a mountain pass. I'm pretty sure I totally drained the hybrid battery to 0%, or at least low enough that the drivetrain refused to draw anymore power from it.

In the course of daily driving, or really any driving other than when towing something really heavy, I haven't really noticed much of a power loss. Always seems to get up and go with full power when I floor it.

I plan to take it in soon, I have the "Service Hybrid System" notice and a CEL that comes and goes. Hopefully, that is what is happening because there is no way that I am experiencing 370HP & 470TQ when the battery is at <1%.

It does sound as though there is an issue with it. Mine has the same "seat of the pants" power even when the battery reads <1%.

As a side note, the battery percentage gauge is more of a gauge of how much battery you have for all electric driving. The system maintains ~15% battery for the hybrid drive (and you would definitely know if the battery was actually drained to 0%.

Actual crank HP is closer 400-420

A 4xe wrangler was dyno’d and put down 340whp stock. Vehicles with solid axles and heavy tires experience significant drivetrain losses. For reference my 6.2L sierra rated at 420hp/460ft lbs dyno’s around 330whp.

Yeah it sounds like there's a problem with yours.

My guess is that when your battery charge depletes to "<1%" (which really means the battery level is ~20%, but you just have <1% remaining to use for full-EV mode driving), something in the computer is telling it to stop using the HV battery at all anymore. So you're strictly getting power from the ICE, instead of both the ICE and electric. That should not be a normal, frequent occurrence, like I mentioned earlier this should only ever happen during extreme conditions like long uphill drives hauling a heavy load, it's not something you should ever encounter during regular daily driving.

Seems like your hybrid system is malfunctioning in some way. Maybe the battery itself, maybe just a controller, either way hopefully the dealer can get you sorted out quickly.

I agree and given that it has happened a few times now, there is likely something that has or is failing. It definitely does not perform like it has 370/470 under the hood.

Its like the new 911 GTS, which is a "mild hybrid" no ev only mode and no plug in option. It has a very small battery. The e motor is there for performance boost. When the Jeep is at <1% it will still operate at minimal EV only mode for a short amount of time, but if you look at the gauges you can see the e motor kicking in to help with turbo lag or to add power when passing.

I wish there was a way to read the HP and Torque from the PID's. Anyone found a way?

Yes; but that would not the be same as having 370HP and 470TQ "all the time" which is what has been said here numerous times and suggested on Jeep's website.

It may well be that I have an issue with mine (at least I hope that is the case), because otherwise, the GC is a large vehicle to have "only" a 2.0T powering it.

You should probably go test drive another vehicle to figure out if it's your vehicle that has a problem, or if you don't know how to drive your vehicle, this stuff ain't rocket science.
