Question - would think I wouldn't have to ask it since I've a jeep since 2000. Anyways, after we had issues with the start stop system, and the the 2nd battery, when I put my jeep into 4H I have to "jiggle" the shifter for the 4H light to show up on the dash. I'm wondering though if I didn't jiggle it that it is actually in 4H and just not showing the light on my dash. Any thoughts on it. The next time I have to use the 4H I think I'm not going to jiggle the shifter and see if I can tell if its in 4H just by driving through the snow.

Thank you for listening to my babbling thoughts,
Carol

Carol,

On those infrequent occasions when I've dealt with similar issues, in each instance it was wear and tear on the related switch that caused intermittent illumination of the related dashboard indicator light.

I wouldn't think that just occasional use of the transfer case lever on a 2019 Wrangler (as I'm presuming is your use case) would cause similar wear on the switch in question. With that in mind, the first thing I'd do is check every electrical connection that comes to mind, starting with the battery clamps and then peeking under the center console in the area of the transfer case lever -- not an easy task, granted -- to determine if everything is as snug as it should be.

The jiggling may suggest that, if the related switch is the culprit, it is simply loose and not worn to the point of malfunctioning.

Yes it's very intermittent use of the 4H, it's my daily drive in New Hampshire. Unfortunately lately there isn't time for the off roading we used to do.

We can speculate, but like you said: wait until it happens again and verify whether it's really engaged or not.
And I'm thinking I'll be able to tell if it's engaged with the list out.

This morning was a good opportunity to test it with 4.5" of fresh heavy wet snow. I put it in 4H, no light, but I could hear it engage. To make sure I was hearing it, I took it out and could hear a change in the sound. Tried it again the light came on so I didn't get to drive it while the light was off to see if it was engaged.
