With 285s do I need to do anything to the tire (deflate?) and/or 3rd brake light?

With 285s you'll need a spare tire relocation bracket on a Sport S. You will also need to raise the 3rd brake light.

I had the opposite experience on my sport. I have 295/70r17. I did nothing and everything fits fine.

To the OP are we talking 285/70 or 285/75? With 285/75 you may have to do the above depending how true to size they are.

I had to trim the rubber bump stops but otherwise did not need to raise the 3rd brake light or do anything else

To get those bump stops on/off, it’s easier to push/pull from the inside by taking off the inner tailgate panel

At first I made no changes. Then the next time I rotated my tires I raised the brake light. Now I notice the rear wiper arm is contacting the backside of the brake light bracket. Next rotate I'm going to lower it again.
