It’s a bullshit answer. The correct way for Jeep to handle that situation is contact the rail company and/or the trucking company and demand that the shipping delays be resolved in a timely manner. But they won’t do that.was told 7-9 weeks when I ordered. Been over 6 months with another delay today. Here’s Jeep chat from June:

I had it trucked to California. My first choice carrier couldn't find anyone to haul it before Christmas. Then I contacted Nexus Auto Transport. They found a driver within 24 hours, and my Jeep was picked on in NC on 12/23 at around 9PM local time, and it arrived in a 2 car enclosed trailer at my house the evening of 12/26. 3 days to travel over 2800 miles. It arrived clean and damage free.

$2475 total. I had been quoted as high as $3200 a couple of days prior. Prices will vary based on the dates, fuel costs, etc. The shipping companies will put out a listing for the job, and drivers will either accept, counter offer, or ignore. Because mine was being arranged a few days before a major holiday, I got super lucky in finding a driver willing to make the trip, and charge a reasonable amount. Last summer a friend had a VW GTI transported from NJ to CA, and it cost her $3000, and it took 8 days (different carrier).

The cost of having a vehicle shipped is not getting any cheaper. I had purchased a motorcycle in California and had it shipped to NJ and the best price I received was just under $1000 and that was based upon once the trailer was fully loaded it would leave CA and make several drop off`s along the way. I was not in a hurry to get the bike here so that helped but sites like UShip where you can get bids on having it shipped were much more and were in a open trailer. My bike was in a 40 foot trailer with a lift-gate and arrived in perfect condition. Funny if you look into shipping a car overseas in a container the price was roughly $3000 but that was just for the shipping. You can get hammered on the import tax based on value and engine displacement and other costs too
