Hi everyone! I have a 2024 Willys 4xe and I'm planning to upgrade to 35" tires. I mostly do light to moderate off-roading—mainly rough trails, no rock crawling. From what I understand, my Willys has the same suspension and high-clearance fenders as the Rubicon.

I'm currently running 285/70 R17 Falken M/Ts.

Here’s the setup I’m considering:

  • Falken Wildpeak R/T 35x11.5 (planning to keep the stock wheels)
  • Daystar 0.75" Coil Spring Spacers – Front and Rear
  • Fox 2.0 Performance Series Shocks
  • Fox 2.0 Stabilizer

What do you guys think about this setup?

Tires should fit with that setup. I’d suggest you cycle the suspension with the new wheels to ensure your bump stops are right and you don’t need more to prevent rubbing or bottoming out the shocks.

I can’t speak to those shocks, but make sure you get them long enough. Not sure why you would replace the steering stabilizer without any current issues. Consider detachable sway bar end links.

I would run it with the 35s and no spacers first to see what you think. No sense in adding the extra height with a spacer if you don't need it.

You're right, that makes sense. I'll try it out with the 35s and no spacers first and see how it feels. Thanks for the tip!

I'm considering upgrading the shocks due to the added weight from the 35'' tires and the height gain of about 1.75'' from the spacers and tires.
I'm also thinking about installing detachable sway bar end links. Thanks.

FYI, larger tires don't add weight to the body of the Jeep (since they are resting on the ground) and don't increase the distance between the mounting points of the shocks. The height gain with a larger tire is between the ground and the axle. The distance between the axle and the body stays the same.

Thank you very much for that information

height gained from tire size doesn’t factor into the needed shock length.. just the coil spacer
Mmm, well kinda.

Tire size sets minimum bump. Minimum bump sets maximum compressed shock length.

That tire will fit as is without any lift, but the 0.75" can't hurt to claw back some lost uptravel. Truth be told the stock setup doesn't even utilize all the uptravel available (even with sway bar disconnected) with a 35" tire. Since you are on high fenders like a rubicon, take a look at my past setup (2024 Rubicon 4xe, no-lift and Falcon 35x11.5 RT tires)

They do run narrow on tread width, even less than a 285/70/17, so get ready to visually see the skinny-ness

That said you will have no trouble clearing them at full flex. With stock (no spacer) there is an ever so minor rubbing on the rear inner fender at extreme flex.. nothing else.

With no needed bump, I like the idea of the 3/4" spacers if he's sitting where we were stock. Should get front uptravel near 4.5" and be nice and balanced closer toward the center of the Fox 2.0 0-1.5" shocks.

yeah, esp with the fox 0-1.5 upgrade it puts him in the right spot for up and down travel with the 0.75 spacer. Being able to squeeze 4+ inches on both ways travel is the best thing ever.. uptravel is underrated man :D

I really appreciate your response. From what I can see, that tire does look quite narrow. I might consider installing 315/70s on the stock wheels, but not all tire shops will mount them on 7.5'' rims.
