I'd retain the oil filter housing and R&R just the cooler.
The Dorman would probably work well by doing that provided you use the Mopar "o-rings" on the bottom of it. I would opine that being made of metal, the Dorman would not be able to move like the plastic one does.

In combination with an external oil cooler and remote oil filter, this would be the best solution to a trainwreck of a design from FCA.

Oil is pumped from oil pump to oil filter, oil then goes thru oil cooler to main engine block oil galley. You would have to build something that takes oil from the filter and then pipes oil into the main galley. This is shown in the factory service manual.

A fairly straightforward billet machined aluminum plate with ports replicating the cooler will simulate the cooler and provide stiffness to prevent the oil filter housing from flexing, working the seals, which wears them and unloads the seal.
