So recently I had a couple CELs pop up on my ‘21 JLUR. For clarity sake it has 37s 3.5” lift, 4.88s and is an Etorque. One cel was (P105D) for intake valve stuck in high position and another one for Fuel/Air Ratio, can’t remember the exact code. Luckily I had purchased a 7/75K extended warranty and I was 200 miles short of that.
At the time of this happening it ran okay but did feel like it had lost a little power. Took it to the dealership they finally call back and say I need two lifters and rocker arms. I asked about cam and they said it was fine allegedly. Gave me no issues about bigger tires and fixed it under the extended warranty.

This got me digging into this issue with the 3.6 and has me worried. It seems to run fine now. No ticks or issues but I’m wondering how likely is this problem to return since they only changed two lifters and rockers. Should I consider trading or selling it? Or risk major engine issues later on.

A failed lifter takes a decent amount of time before the cam starts getting eaten to the point it can't be used.

I suspect the VVL lifter was failed in this case, and it wasn't flowing oil to allow the low lift position. Not really a big deal overall, shit happens.

If you're worried about the common rocker failures just run 0w-30 oil instead of 0w-20 and you'll be fine. Change it every 5k

Thanks! I think I'm just being paranoid more than anything. At this point I have so much money in it with lift, tires, shocks etc I'd be stupid to get rid of it unless someone offered me stupid money for it which won't happen. A dealership will never give me anywhere near what I'd want out of it in trade.

The dealership that worked on it assured me the cam was okay. I can extend my Max Care Warranty to 150K for $2700 or just roll the dice and if the whole thing detonates go to Rubitrux and get alow mileage take out motor and have it installed for 5-7K which is what I'm leaning towards.

Buy max care if you plan on keeping the vehicle. One repair and it'll pay for itself. You will use it.

I agree, get the Max care. At his moment I'm getting a new engine in my 09 Ram with lifetime. 2700 seems a bit steep, did you check the pricing from one of our board members.

That price was from Tom Winkels.

I'm with you, I would roll the dice and save that money. I'm running 10w30 as I live in a hot climate and prefer thicker oil.
