They are clearly the same engine with a few changes. Maserati made a deal with Fiat at the time.
Except the big difference between the 2 is turbos, and a massive difference in bearing material and tolerances. tolerances are what determines oil requirements.

Chrysler spec is not some Buggati spec, any oil can exceed it.
This is actually almost completely wrong. Chrysler has one of the strictest specs in oil. Specs for the 1.4T for example where only able to be completed by I believe 2 brands upon release. A large portion of this is the oils detergent ability

You're damned if you do, damned if you don't.

I've taken meticulous care of my Pentastar and my rocker arms and cams still ate shit. And I have no illusions the replacements won't do the same, either.
I've read a lot of Pentastar threads, I agree there doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to rocker arm and cam failures. It almost seems that the manufacturing tolerances or things like heat treatment are inconsistent.

Have you driven the same vehicle with both engines? We owned a 2019 Grand Cherokee with the 3.6 and a 2020 Grand Cherokee with the 5.7. Night and day difference in performance in every aspect. Off the line it was way quicker, passing was effortless, and towing was 10X better. MPG was a bit less of course.
oddly, my 2000 5.7 ram, got better mileage than my JLUR. But my 5.7 did develop a bad lifter tick, and stalling after start...so it went bye bye.

I have 30 psi at idle and 82 psi when I floor it. I am running HPL Super Car 0w30 that is a totally different chemistry than Chrysler MS-6395 and has truckloads of zinc and 12 viscosity at 100 degrees, compared to the measly 8 viscosity of PUP 0w20 that becomes freakin 0w16 after 2000 miles. No thank you, no 0w20 for me.
Running 5w40
28 to 31 at idle and 75 over 3k RPMs

The problem with thicker oil in especially colder climates is, on startup, the oil holds the roller rockers from rotating and begins to put flat spots on the rollers.
Colder climates like 20° below zero, not like 40°

The amazing thing about the HPL 0w30 HPL oil that I'm running is that I'm still getting the same MPG despite 12 viscosity

The upper limit of the 0w20 range is 9 Centistokes. Red Line makes such a 0w20, which is I think over 9. So that 0w 20 is not acceptable?

You keep saying this. But it's wither 0w30, or 12w30. 0w is 0w, 12w is 12w. 0w is not 12

Are you trying to say it's similar to Lucas Oil stabilizer?
I am saying that hpl Supercar 0w30 is thicker than Pennzoil Ultra Platinum 0w-20 when I'm driving the jeep on the highway, but I am still getting the same gas mileage. Am I missing something?
