Yep, the same thing happened with leather seats on the regular Rubicon. When the build options first came out, it was a $1,700 option, now it’s gone. Definitely some odd configuration limits this MY.
Very strange configurations. Too bad they’ve put them there. You get steel bumpers on an Rubicon X with no winch but you have to take the winch to get steel bumpers on a Rubicon. If you want a soft top on a Rubicon X you have to get the dual top group. You can’t get black fenders on a Rubicon X. Just crazy!

Just wish you could get XR as a manual. Will probably go to 35s after I go through the factory 33s on the Rubicon.
Obviously there’s a few die hard manual transmission people left and I’m with you that YOU should have a choice. I too was a manual transmission guy until I bought my 2022 Rubicon. Had a manual in both my 1997 TJ and another manual in my 2012 JK. I always said a real Jeep has three pedals on the floor. As I’ve grown older I’ve had my fill of the manual transmission. The 8 speed in my 2022 Rubicon is so smooth and so easy to operate. I honestly am having a full meal of crow for dinner for all the bashing and hate I had for an automatic transmission in a Jeep. I honestly love it.

I think I have that same Trans in my GC and it is great. I just miss driving manual and want to get back into it. After hearing some of the woes on here about the new JL clutch I'm skeptic but there's always aftermarket if it's not great. It would be nice to have choice in tires as you said. I can't imagine the 35s will be an issue for a manual. Maybe the 4.10 gearing will be the weak link. I'm not sure. This will be my first Wrangler but I've been enjoying Jeeps and manuals for years. My first car was stick, they are fun to drive.

4:88s are FUN and if you drive in the city then they are the answer!

Bad news, NO 35s on the 2024

Rubicon X

If I had only known, I would not have ordered the X, just the Rubicon...Been a LOT cheaper.
Its because of the 2 door configuration. they are on the 4 door with auto trans. to my knowledge 2 doors have never had the XR/35 inch tire package option

Same thought, I wanted a manual JK, tried the manual, thought "meh, not bad, not great". Then test drove the 5 speed. Bought the 5 speed then and there, and when JL came about, the 8 speed puts the 5 speed to shame. I cannot imagine Jeep improved the manual. Only thing close to being fun in a manual was my 335 sport, very fun, but even there thought maybe an auto would be better.

I was real close to finding the 8% off msrp guy, but upon looking at the Rubi and X version 2dr, no 35's? Yes on 4.88, no on big tire, wth? They gotta fix that error.

But if I just wanted a rugged look while sometimes venturing off on dirt roads or using 4x4 for traction in the mountains, I'd pick a different ride.
Curious as to what examples of that you'd have in mind, thanks.

I haven't thought too deeply about it since I knew I needed a Wrangler for the off-roading I want to do. But there's a fair contingent of Wrangler owners out there who've never put their transfer case into low range, except maybe once to try it out.

So, off the top of my head and without a lot of deep thought:

Bronco - which is the only other choice to be able to pull the top or doors off

Jeep Grand Cherokee

Toyota 4 Runner

Land Rover Defender

EDIT - my neighbors have a Toyota RAV4 and they drive that thing all over heck n' gone. Not "4x4 trails" but any number of remote and dirt roads leading to remote locations and trailheads.

I'm sure there are others and better choices...

The KO2s aren't a great tire anyway, so don't let the lack of 35s on the 2dr deter you. A set of 35s will fit and you can buy any tire you like. Is it convenient to have to replace brand new tires? Not at all, but at least then you aren't stuck with ko2s. With the manual I'd definitely go for the 4.88s, with the auto I find the 4.56s are fine even on our new 39s. Just for back from a 1k miles weekend roadtrip to big bear and back. Cruise control set at 83mph no problem and ran John Bull (7-9 rated rock trail) without using a spotter, the winch, or even the lockers. The JL is that much better than previous generations.

I just noticed in another thread that the 392 called to you.

So: Porsche Cayenne. Now there's a driver's SUV. Or maybe BMW X5.

Either a 392 or a Rubicon X. But getting stoked on the 392, that's true.

At the risk of mentioning it excessively in this forum, I drive a Camaro which I have had since 1984. At only 50 inches high at its roof, it's basically a Go-Kart where my legs stretch out before me. On the highway in traffic, I can't see over the other cars. I'd like my next vehicle, the one that carries me out so to speak, to place me much higher in the saddle and not have the skinny-ass tires that are so popular today. I don't care much for the 19, 20, 21, 22-inch rims, might as well be Conestoga wagon wheels. And maybe I can have 4WD for the first time. So, the Wrangler solves all of this and to get into offroading maybe will get me outdoors and socialize with others instead of being cooped up as is my habit anymore. Jeep people seem wonderfully friendly. I like to watch the rock-crawling videos.

I try to keep an open mind through all of this and I appreciate your input.
