My lease is up 10/25. Other than the recalls, and an inability to keep a windshield from attracting rocks, my 2021 Rubicon 4xe has been flawless. I was given a 2024 Sahara 4xe loaner for the BP9 recall and other than the new screen I didn't see enough for me to splurge for a new one. However, I've heard of a substantial increase on battery mileage in the 2025's but I can't find a number. Right now my battery at 100% says 25 mile range. I've heard rumors as high as 40 miles on a full charge on a revised battery pack but so far nothing official. Has anyone heard anything in stone?

No one on this forum is likely going to know the answer to that. And if they do (i.e. they work at Jeep), they would get in a lot of trouble putting up the number. Everything else will be someone’s wild guess. Your best bet is to wait until Jeep announces officially.

Wouldn’t hold your breath. I’m in the same boat as you, I’ve enjoyed my Rubicon 4XE and considering buying out. I’m curious what your residual set at?

I bought in the middle of Covid. Paid MSRP, and was happy just to find one. Mine was ordered to my specs, and it was 75K and change. Residual is 45K. I've got 9900 miles on it. Figure I'll have 12K miles by the time I have to make a decision.

Got it, I mean maybe it’s just me but I feel like I see far more people with 2024s having issues. I’m scared to move to a new one since I’ve had good luck with my 2022. If I decide to turn mine in at the end it would be for a gas only probably.

I'm getting 800 miles to the tank. I only start burning gas when the computer kicks the ICE in so the fuel doesn't go stale. Great acceleration, climbs like a billy goat, on 32-inch tires. As much as the new offerings intrigue me, (Ranger Raptor, Tacoma Trailhunter) I can't escape the fact that this is the most capable vehicle and the most economical vehicle I've ever owned.

Good luck thinking we'll get 40 miles.

For an EV, no, not good. For a PHEV, yes, 40 miles on battery alone is quite good.
People have been conditioned to accept mediocre to poor results on these 4xE models AND pay a much higher price on top of it. Let’s not even talk about the high likelihood of these present 4xE’s becoming technically obsolete long before their useful life has ended. Stellantis, at the encouragement of the federal government, is putting it to us while we say “please, can I have some more?”

I don’t have anything electric (outside of eTorque which barely counts) but I like the gas/electric propulsion very much. But not these ridiculously low ranges coupled with a gas engine that doesn’t even recharge the battery.

These vehicles are super priced short range in town commuters tied to an in home or at work charging system to even make them viable at being a hybrid. If a 4xE Jeep is used as intended the electric motor by itself would only be used for a fraction of time while adding substantial weight and complexity all the time. The extra boost the rest of the time helps but does not overcome its somewhat lack of viability as a touted phev.

If people buy these with that knowledge and understanding then that’s awesome. They are still great vehicles, they need to have the Xtreme Recon package available however.

Why is it mediocre? "According to a December 2023 survey, the average American car commute is about 12 miles." So you can likely commute to work at low electric only cost?

"...ridiculously low ranges coupled with a gas engine that doesn’t even recharge the battery." It can charge the battery, it is simply not enabled by default (but will costs you 1 to 2 mpg).

" tied to an in home or at work charging system to even make them viable at being a hybrid." As opposed to what, charging mid commute?

" If a 4xE Jeep is used as intended the electric motor by itself would only be used for a fraction of time while adding substantial weight and complexity all the time." No it is used full time for commuters, its intended application.

" The extra boost the rest of the time helps but does not overcome its somewhat lack of viability as a touted phev." I don't commute at all, I only bought the 4XE because its much faster and responsive over the 3.6 V6 and the 392 was too expensive.

40 miles is double what it is now, and 30% more than the extremely efficient Prius Prime.
Prius Prime can get up to 44 miles on electric only.

40 miles on battery is “good?” Needs to be 10x that with what they cost, extra weight and increased technical complexity.
Weigh the same as the 382.

It's a PHEV it does not need increased mileage, that is what a BEV is for, with it's own pitfalls.
