I’m on the Jeep website configuring a Rubicon. I’m comparing the Uconnect options. It appears the nav, like I have in my 2021 is no longer available. I the nav offering says it is supplied by TomTom which requires a subscription and cellular service. Is the cellular only for the traffic portion, or the map too. If that’s the case, my iPhone already covers it. I do like the nav on my 2021 when I’m outside of cell service, which is fairly common where I live.

I know you need the built in nav system in order to take advantage of the new adventure guide/trails offroad navigation. Otherwise you are better off just using your phone through android auto/carplay IMHO. I don't understand who uses built in navigation in cars...never seen anybody ever use it myself and I don't either.

Looking through the manual I see the following requires the subscription service:
  • Online POIs
  • Traffic Info (and probably dynamic routing too)
  • Fuel Prices (Also requires WiFi Subscription :/)
Updates just say active WIFI plan or USB updates.

sound like maybe the underlying maps will still work offline, you'll just lose some of the perks.

Recommend skipping the navigation unless you're looking for the integrated camera or believe the UConnect provides a better interface. Both Google Maps and Apple Maps work in offline mode (you can download maps ahead of time) and they use GPS well without a cellular data connection.

I have the Navigation in my 2024 and sure, I can use my iPhone. However, the display and the size on the 2024 is awesome. Sharp & clear. It will also show up in the instrument cluster when you get close to your turn. For me I need the live traffic when I travel. You do not need cellular connection to use Tom Tom.

Have you gotten Travel Link to work?
