I'm curious too, I've got a rattle coming from that area and it's driving me bonkers because I can't pin down exactly where it's coming from

Just inside of fender, might have a loose screw in there or something.But it is a great place to hide wires for rear lighting, etc. opens pretty easily.

I think it is more than that. Its not there (not that I have seen) on non 4xe's and it is not there on pre 2024 4xe's

Sorry Mike, answered based on our 21 4xe(literally put screws through that area to secure a fire extinguisher). We are building the 24 this weekend and that area will come out for wiring rear speaker pods up the rollbar. We will get u some pics.

Ok, finally have the answer…nothing, well a brace to fill the hole, but yes the trim was redesigned.

Somewhere around there is a little thing you can tug on to pop the gas cap manually if the button on the dash isn't working

well thats dumb - i put a nice storage basket thing there in my '21 4xe. It doesn't make sense to me why they'd add that void where there used to be just carpet over the wheel tub.

My bet is they had some type of plug accessory that was going to be in that spot, but they left it out in favor of the power box.

It's further back, on the vertical trim around the tailgate.
