Been traveling a lot for work and havent started it in a couple of/few months. Had zero power to anything so I am jumping it. So far no luck getting it to turn over. Any input on how long should I expect to have to jump it from my truck before it has enough charge to start? Would I be better off getting a charger/jump starter? Obviously going forward if I am not around I will have someone start it and drive it around for me.

If you totally drained the batteries you'll need to let it sit and soak up power for a bit. Remember you're recharging two batteries. Both batteries are linked in parallel during the cold start and while it sits idle. Can't tell you how long it will take but since there are two batteries it will take longer than a single battery vehicle.

If sitting for a long period is a common occurrence, I'd recommend one of these two routes:
  1. If there is 120v power where you park, put a small trickle charger on it before leaving.
  2. If you park outdoors, a Cascadia 4x4 hood solar panel will completely eliminate any concerns about drained batteries and you do nothing to operate it. It just trickle charges your battery whenever the sun is out.

Thanks. Had it connected to my running truck for 20 mins. Lights came on but no start. Disconnected from truck and lost interior lights. Would think it would hold enough for interior lights to stay on at least a short time after a 20min charge.

Do you have a volt meter? Is this an eTorque? My ‘21 3.6 eTorque once started when the battery read only 11.3 volts.

Not necessarily. Don’t forget, you might have 2 batteries that need to be charged.

And for those interior lights to work you need a completely powered and functional computer. It's not like how older vehicles used to be. The JL is an electronic vehicle and it absolutely hates being short on electrical power.

Suggest you get a decent charger for AGM batteries, let them charge for at least 24 hrs., disconnect the charger. Turn the headlights on for about a minute and then do a load test.
i would not be surprised if they are shot at this point.

Fairly certain it does. 2023 2.0
Just verifying that you do not have an E-torque engine. If you don’t, you have an aux battery.

if you do indeed have an aux battery, that needs to be dealt with as well.

I was just reading how to charge that one once the main was charged. Instructions are for a 2020. Any notable differences on a 2023?

The concern we have is that Main and Aux are linked in parallel 99.99% of the time. If one is new and one is old (even if it still tests "good") it will work but the older battery will severely shorten the lifespan of the new battery.

You want to replace both at the same time to avoid replacing batteries much quicker than you should.

Not replacing today. Just charging and going from there.
