So disappointed. Waiting on a tow truck my 2019 JLU 2.0 with less than 700 miles. Went to run an errand this morning and the Jeep would not start. It said it wasn't in park and couldn't start. At first it clicked but didnt turn over. After a few tries it stopped clicking.

It also would not turn off the accessories. Fans kept running, radio stayed on, ect. Had to disconnect the batteries to finally get it to shutoff. Came back an hour later and still wouldnt start. Messages on the dash included blind spot disabled, power steering service, auto start/stop disabled, service transmission.

I found some posts about 3.6s not starting, but not 2.0.

Seems like FCA can’t even get the 2019’s rolling correctly, may push more and more toward another brand like the Ford Bronco when it gets released.

This is really disheartening. Sorry to hear it. The problems on this forum make me stress about my order daily. Good luck getting it figured out!

I had these exact same warnings.

I was hooking up rock lights, and to make it easier to get through I disconnected the connector under the passenger fender well while pulling the wires. I forgot to reconnect it.

All kinds of messages, about Not in Park, ESS disabled, yada yada yada.

As someone else said, check all the fuses, and double check that the connector under the well is tight.

I was on the verge of calling a tow truck, until a light bulb came on (or I smacked my head on the rollbar, not sure which).

I did try pushing down all the fuses, no luck. Didnt check the connector under the well. It's probably something simple like a lose wire or bad sensor. 250K miles in 3 previous Wranglers and none left me stranded.

When the tow truck came he couldnt figure out the manual parking release. For some reason my release didnt lock into place when pulled. We figured out if you keep it pulled the Jeep is actually in neutral. Flashing P means it's in neutral.

I don't think this is an engine problem. More to do with the electronics of the Jeep as the same thing could happen to a V6.

Hi Maller,
We are terribly sorry that you are having this experience with your brand new Jeep. Please send us a private message so we can have this documented and look into a bit further.

PM sent, no case worker call yet.

On the plus side I got my jeep back Thursday. Drove it 30 miles, now it's back in the shop. Wouldn't start again. New for this time xsm button was gone and the climate control only showed hi low. No temp.

I was considering a new 2019 when they offered to replace my 2018. Now I am pushing for a straight buyback because the issues are not worked out yet. Maybe in a few more years I'll consider another wrangler.

So was this in park or not? If not, did you know you can remove the cover ahead of the shifter and pull the rip cord to unlock the shifter and move it to park? The battery could have drained.

I ask this because when I got home last night in the wife’s JL, the ESS kicked in when I came to a stop in the driveway and without thinking I pushed the ignition button to turn it off. It did turn off. The problem? I didn’t put it in park. I accidentally left it in D, put the e-brake on, and got out and locked it—engine off. Today, the battery was dead. It would only unlock using the key in the door. I hooked her JL up with jumper cables to my JL and the dash lit up. I had to close her hood on the cables because of the ESS hood sensor. I did not have to pull the transmission rip cord, but I knew it was there. Once it got power I was able to shift to P and with my JL running hers started right up. Ran the engine for about 30mins and check the battery in the off-road pages. Everything seemed fine in comparison to my JL. I’ll check it before I leave for work tomorrow.

Yup it was in park both times. The messages on the display started with the park message and moved to multiple other messages. Turns out the battery was dead. 1st time dead to the point it wouldn't jump for me or the dealer. 2nd time I jumped it with my wife's SUV.

I did show the tow truck driver the release. When you pull it the P flashes, which is the only indication the transmission is in neutral.

Appreciate the suggestion. It's good for others to see that video. The release is not obvious.

I don't know if it's a 2.0 verses 3.6 issue? Seems like both have issues. FCA quality, or lack of it, is unbelievable. I was willing to write off the reports of new Jls leaving owners stranded days after delivery as rare abnormalities. I am not so confident anymore. I saw the battery light flickered on-off-on during a test drive of a brand new JL 2.0 with about 15 miles on it. A 3.6 Rubicon had the bad steering. A couple of weeks ago I saw a brand new JL Rubicon parked with it's blinkers on. I assumed the owner was doubled parked and waiting for someone. I asked the owner how he liked his new JL? He was pissed, he said his JL died right then and there without warning. He said he had some other issues also. Had less then 600 miles on it. 2 days ago I saw another JL in a mall parking lot getting towed. Then there is the woman who had to be towed after her new Rubicon left her stranded on the way home from the dealer the day she bought it. Now more reports of 2019's leaving owners stranded. I know it's a small sample but WTF? Seeing and reading about all the failures is not confidence inspiring for any potential owners. I'd be lying if I said I was not concern as someone who wants to buy one.

So...got it back today. They said the media hub was powering on and off creating a draw on the battery and waking up the computer. They replaced the hub and battery due to how many times in drained. Fingers crossed it starts tomorrow. 2 days in a row would be a record in the last 9 days.
