2023 Rubicon Earl clear coat. Order placed 27 Nov. Hoping to receive by end of March?

The more extras selected, the more the chances of possible delays. Some options are more prone for delays than others. I appears that anyone with safety groups tend to linger here longer. Ordered Earl 2D Sport 3.6 MT and it entered production 6 weeks after order.

I got the 4NS today as well. Ordered 11/4 and I got 4AK first, them two weeks later 573, now two weeks after that 4NS. Punk’n 2 door sport 6 speed still in C/D status. Have VIN.

I’m still waiting to see ANY Punk’n even go D1 let alone KZ.

Hearing rumors that all ordered 4Xe are on “hold” due to recall. I’ve been stuck in “I status- built, pending final inspection” for about 8 weeks. I’m getting nervous about losing the tax credit at end of month. Anyone else having same issue with 4XE’s?

Nothing like this from my end. In fact my estimated delivery time has moved up. Which is excellent news considering it is going to take a week for them to do all of the extra shit to it before we pick it up.

I’m good with waiting until March. If I don’t have possession by March 1st, someone else gets a base 2 door Punk’n! This is my 7th Wrangler so the excitement and newness wore off decades ago. I was super hesitant to order anyway after all the paint issues, that’s why I dumped my 21 Rubicon 2 door this year before any appeared. So I won’t be broken up if I have to walk on this one.

Unfortunately, my order was placed Sept 6 (after the IRA was passed) so I'm not grandfathered.
I spoke with Jeep Cares at Stellantis, but just got a form email back.

SOT
Saddle Leather

Well after 104 days in D1 I got this email today. Hoping that it gets built just in time to catch the next truck to Tennessee. But the current delivery estimate is 1/7/2023...

i ordered automatic 4 door sport s, earl clear coat, hard top, 2.0.

I chat with someone fairly high up in the Wrangler product line at Jeep on a somewhat regular basis (either directly, or through mutual friends' social media posts). I occasionally ask him questions that come up on the forums and, for questions he can or is able to answer, he provides me insight / answers. He has told me that they can only paint 11 colors at any one time...

Based on what he has told me, this is my understanding of the process with regards to paint...

Because the factory only is able to paint a certain number of colors at any one time. There are colors that they always paint (Black, White, Silver... and normally Red and some shade of blue, which in the JL's case is Hydro Blue... for most of the JL's lifecycle they've also painted Sarge Green, Sting Gray, and Granite Crystal).

For colors that they do not paint regularly (like Punk'n, Earl, Reign, High Velocity, Gobi, Hella Yella, Snazzberry, Gecko, Mojito, Ocean Blue, Chief, Bikini, etc.), they rotate them in and out.

Taking paints in and out of the production process isn't necessarily complex, but it does take additional time (and if the timing is wrong, leads to material waste). Right now, there is such a backlog of orders they need to keep the production moving to get through that backlog. There are orders out there, if you look through this thread, that have been in confirmed status from anywhere between 90 and 160+ days which were all made prior to Punk'n being re-released, and those orders are in the following colors...

1. Black
2. White
3. Silver
4. Red
5. Hydro Blue
6. Sting Gray
7. Sarge Green
8. Granite Crystal
9. High Velocity
10. Earl
11. Reign

Reign was called a "limited edition" color, so once all of the Reign Jeep bodies are sprayed, they will likely flip the paint guns spraying Reign over to Punk'n.

Now, I'm sure some Punk'n Jeep will go into production and prove me wrong, but this is how it was explained to me by someone that would be "in the know."
