I’m ready to return my 18 JLUR to stock and upgrade to a 392. I don’t mind a low mileage used unit but torn between a 23/24. I hate the red interior on the 24s. I’m not here to argue that you love it. More so, how are the bugs worked out? Corrosion issues? Interior screen worth the upgrade in price? I plan to switch over 90% of the parts from my 18 if I can. Axles different in the 392 to the 3.6? I have a pretty much built axles in my 18.

With all of the updates and upgrades from the factory on a 2024 and 2025 I would be hard pressed to go with a 2023 or older.
You could find a used 2024 final edition if you wanted a 2024 without the red seats (it would have black seats)
*New radio
*wireless android auto
*new dash
*Full float D44 rear
*New grill has way more winch clearance
*Power seats
*No radio antenna
*side air bags (not really a cool thing but still)

I like the wireless Android Auto that is available in the 2024's and I feel that my 2024 392 drives better than the 2023 392 that I had. I also like the electric seats (yes, they are red), but you could try to find a Final Edition 2024 that has the black seats if they bother you that much. I haven't had any bugs so far on the 2024 and only had the 2023 for 2 months before it was totaled and didn't have any bugs in it either. After having the 2023 totaled, I do like having the air bags up on the sportbar, but they do limit things you can attach up there. I liked the older design of the Mopar grab handles that went over the top instead of the 2024 design that just attaches to the screws underneath. The old style just seems stronger to me. Other than that, either one is a blast to own.

The 24s are also quieter on the road with added insulation.

It's measurably quieter then the 2021 JLUR I had.

Front axle tube is the XR version so if you are planning to truss with an Artec kit for example you'll need to modify the truss kit.

The seats are better shaped and more comfortable in the 24s. I'm 6'5 and currently 297lbs and find I drive hours comfortably.

Initially I thought I didn't like the new center IP but have come to really appreciate the update.

Lastly the 24s have a hidden cubby in the trunk to hide the hard top window washer hose and electrical connection as opposed to the pre 24s storage contraption that snapped off every time you put the top down

Also forgot to mention that all the 2024's come with the XR package on them where the 2023's could come without and have smaller tires. My 2023 was the non-XR version and I do like the looks and functionality of having the 35" tires and 4.56:1 gearing over the 33" tires and 4.10:1 gears. Not as important if you were planning to do a lift and larger tires than 35's, but I'm happy with the factory setup so far.

Does this mean you are swapping axles between the two?

The '24 has a full float rear, which may or may not be an improvement. The front has steel knuckles, no FAD (but still a 2 piece axle), and CV axles. U-joints don't do as well with the full time transfer case. This can be overcome with a Taser to force 2WD, but the front will still be spinning.

2024’s have engine oil leaks, some weird “exhaust boominess” that may or may not be related to ANC, and not a fan of the red seats.
2023 XR is the sweet-spot.

Didn’t realize there was a final edition 24. Also I woulda love a granite crystal. But black may have to do.
Personally I feel like the upgrades on the 2024 more than cover the extra cost of the year newer Wrangler, but if you want to get technical, for the money you'd save on a 2023 (a few thousand dollars) you could pay to have an upholstery shop install significantly plusher and better quality leather in there.

That being said, I feel like the full float axles alone should be the deciding factor. Especially since you off-road quite a bit from what I remember.

Best of luck, I wish I was in your predicament! 🤪 :handsinair:

Was in the same boat last year and went with the 2023.

Much preferred the interior utilitarian look of the screen vs the larger one in 2024 and wasnt a fan of the red seats. Yes, wireless carplay, but couldnt get over how the wider screen looked on the dash.

Speculation but I think a few years down the road you'll see the 2024+ ones holding their value better than previous years, being after the mid-cycle refresh.

I like the quality of life improvements in the ‘24 enough to tolerate the awful red seats. Katzkin upgrade on my wishlist.

I don’t like the red seats, the new dash, or the grille. But for the full float axle I would get black centers put in the seats (kinda like the 20 A), I’m getting used to the grille, and would tolerate the new unbalanced dash. A small price for the axle.
