2019 Uconnect 8.4 stuck in boot loop

My 2019 JLR with 650 miles on it is stuck in a boot loop on the 8.4 Uconnect. Has anyone experienced this? If so please let me know how it was resolved. I checked fuse 97 and I also disconnected the batteries for 10 min, but it's still happening. I will upload a video shortly. Thank you.

With the JL, turned off, try pulling both the F12 and F97 fuses. Pull them, wait 5 or so minutes and then replace the fuses. This should reset the
8.4 radio.

If the fuse pulls fail to reset, disconnect all 12v power to the JL. This will reset the 8.4 radio.

I disconnected both the main and aux negative cables and left them for 10 minutes before reconnecting, but that did not do the trick.

In fact, even with the ignition set to OFF and door opened and closed, the Uconnect screen keeps looping as seen in the video above.

I don't want to come out to a dead battery in the morning, so I disconnected the negatives again so the constant looping doesn't drain them overnight.

@Rhinebeck01 actually looking at the 12v link you shared I'm thinking maybe I didn't disconnect power completely. How I tried was disconnecting the negative cable from the main battery (10mm nut) and then from that bundle I disconnected the 13mm nut going to the negative on the Aux battery.

Do you know what Cable #1 in your link goes to? Regardless I'll give that method a shot tomorrow.

If you’ve already cut power to the unit causing it to “hard reset” and it’s still in an infinite loop, it sounds like the firmware is attempting to read from storage, and when it can find it, attempts to self-correct by rebooting. The on board solid state storage (equivilant of an SD card) may have failed.

@JoeBelt Thanks for the info. I left the batteries disconnected overnight, as well as double-checked the fuses, and the problem still exists today. In fact as soon as I hooked up the batteries, the screen started the boot loop again, before I even opened the door or put the ignition in ACC or RUN.

I made a dealer appointment for Monday and have disconnected the batteries again to prevent them from draining in the garage. I'm thankful that I have other vehicles.

Update: Took the JLR to the dealer today and they checked things out. They tried updating, reformatting/reloading, and nothing worked. So they decided that the 8.4 unit has to be replaced.

However, they also said that this type of repair requires "special authorization" from FCA and they have another that's been waiting for 2+ weeks with no replacement yet.

@JeepCares anything you can do from your side to help the dealership speed my 8.4 Uconnect replacement unit along?

@JeepCares My UConnect 8.4 is also in some kind of loop where it restarts every 3m30s even when it's off. I brought it into the dealer and they said they didn't work with UConnect and there was no troubleshooting to be done. Just replace the unit. They quoted by $1600 for a refurb unit (I'm a year out of warranty) and $200 for a service fee to tell me they couldn't troubleshoot it. I was going to pick it back up from them today but because of the issue both batteries are dead and my wrangler is sitting on their lot waiting for a tech to jump it so I can go get it. Anything to be done?

1. They say they tried to update from 28.3 to 34.2 but according to UConnect site I'm at 21.x so not sure how I'm at 28. Also is there anything they can do other than tell me I'm out $1600?
2. Any damage to the start/stop battery since it's been sitting dead on their lot for two days?
3. Any way to disable the infotainment so I can drive the damn thing while I figure out how to resolve? The bootloop doesn't end unless power is completely depleted.

Pull fuse F97. That should shut the power off to the radio....
