And our ordering saga continues - making a separate thread because separate question. Dealership also told hubby that "2019 they can't order a 6-cylinder, only option is 4-cyl for $2k extra". I find this really hard to believe - no standard engine, either pay $2k or you don't get any engine? True or false? thanks

Yep, that is pretty outrageous, that's why I'm checking it out. Never heard of such a thing. 6-cyl standard, right?

I would definitely check with another dealer. I was able to order a 2019 late last month with the standard engine (6 cyl).
I suppose it is slightly possible (although unlikely) that there could now be a hold on the regular 6 cyl, while they switch over to the upcoming BSG equipped 6 cyl engine.

**EDIT

I just saw this post in another thread. By any chance, are you looking to order a 2 Door 6 cyl Auto S Package? If so, your dealer might be right. This thread and chart from 9/18 show that 2019 2 Door 6 cyl 8spd Auto S Pkg (24S) ordering was set to close soon:

Sounds like your salesperson is clueless or a scumbag. Either way, run like hell. Don’t give your money to a dealership that employs that moron/crook.

Yes, the 3.6L V6 is the standard engine. 2.0L 4 cylinder turbo is a $1000 option. The 8 speed automatic transmission is a $2000 option over the 6 speed manual.

Just to be devil's advocate for a moment, there have been constraints on V6 plus auto. So *perhaps* the dealer was doing a very poor job of trying to explain that temporarily they may have been unable to order a particular V6 config but could order the 2.0t - which is indeed a $2K upgrade. That said I agree with others here that another dealer may be in order. If I was that dealer I would have said something more along the lines of "Right now we can't place an order for that combo, we don't know why or when that restriction will be lifted. So we can wait until it is or, if YOU choose, we can order with the 2.0t now BUT keep in mind that's a $2K upcharge over the V6. This is all based on the assumption that OP was trying to order V6+Auto.

Edited to add: or, you know, order the V6 with the manual! :)

Great forum! We want a 4 door Sahara unlimited with the “free” engine and the sky power roof, and lots of other options. I wasn’t sure how to read the chart above with the different numbers, not sure which ones correspond to the 6 cyl. We may end up going for the 4 cyl, we’re still learning and are pretty new to the Jeep world—but my bs detector started going off when we heard that the only choice was an up charge for the engine. We think dealership was trying to push an off the lot sale and really didn’t want to take an order, which is fine, husband went elsewhere and they said they can order exactly what he wants. We’ll see....

Thanks for info.

The dealership is definitely trying to rip you off. Yes, the Pentastar 3.6L V6 engine is standard. Go to a more reputable dealer.

Last week, I talked to a dealer about ordering a 6 cylinder in auto, and they told me they couldn't order it because it wasn't available, if I wanted an automatic it had to be the turbo 4 (they did say the 6 cylinder might become available again down the road). About two hours later they called to say they could order it. A couple days later, I placed an order with Courtesy Chrysler Jeep (ask for Kate)(in Coatesville, PA- not far from the Delaware state line) for the 6 cylinder with Auto. It was showing "on restriction", but so were the steel bumpers. She placed the order, and I placed a down payment. I am not expecting any issues, but that being said, all I have right now is a order, not a Jeep.

I believe I recommended the same dealer in another thread that you posted.

The 2.0 turbo is a $1000 option. The 8-speed is $2000.

There was most likely a restriction on the V6 option at the time. This is very common. You just have to wait for it to open back up. Doesn't make the dealership a scumbag... FCA locks certain configurations and options. The dealership has no control over it.

Exactly this. There have been other posts talking about restrictions on the V6 order banks in the last week.

K thanks. I think the dealership could have perhaps explained a bit more to hubby, but hubby also hears what he wants to hear :>.
