2018 Rubi JLU needs what?

I’m headed to Colorado in July for some trail riding. I don’t think anyone in our group will be rock crawling, but I don’t want to embarrass myself. Here’s where I am since I bought her stock…

2018 JLU Rubicon, auto trans
Powered Rock sliders, but pretty sturdy ones
17” rims with fallen wild peak m/t at 35” (20,000 miles on them)
Metalcloak 2.5” game changer with 6pak shocks
12,000 warn winch with synth rope and Factor 55 hooks
AFe CAI
Several additional oh-shit handles
A mesh top

While I did get larger tires, I did not mess with gearing. It remains stock automatic. I used an F5 to correct the speedometer And turn off the engine autostart feature. I will trailer it out to CO from IL because we don’t want to take a 12 hour beating on the trip there. What else must I have to hang with the cool kids? Will I need new tires before I trail-break her? Do I need lighting? Do I need plating? Air compressor?

I know there is no end to what we “could do”. It’s going to come back and be an asphalt eater, but I’d like to have fun while I’m there. Any opinions are appreciated.

Get rid of the wench. It seems like a good idea but you’ll soon get tired of all her drama. Plus the money you save will allow you to buy a winch.

What does your recovery gear bag look like? Soft shackles, tree saver, kinetic line, common tools, small first aid kit?
Have you actually ever been off road? Maybe take a trip to Red Bird SRA with another off road enthusiast to give your Jeep a shakedown...

Looks like a good set up. I would say a way to air down and air up your tires whether that’s equipment someone else in the group has or your own.

It took me a bit to process, butt I thought the wench/winch thing was a riot. Buttt I was eager to edit. Thanks for the good advice. I do have a tree saver, two soft links, but I need to research a kinetic line. Thanks for ALL of your good advice.

A good way to air up/down is excellent advice.
First time, I used my portable DeWalt jumper/pump -- took about 20 minutes per tire.
Shoulda thought about capacity...

Milwaukee makes a good compressor if you already have a lot of Milwaukee tools.

Put together a decent self rescue kit and a decent “survival” kit and just enjoy yourself. A stock Rubicon is more capable than most people. Unless you’re doing extreme rock crawling you already have all you need. Some folks on here think a stock Jeep isn’t capable of going off road and that’s simply NOT true. My S with limited slip and 33” KO2’s has been more than adequate. A few years ago I ran into a Land Rover group “exploring“ in the Colorado Rockies. My “plain“ little JL had covered the same trail they were carefully traveling down with zero issue

I have no idea if you’re all set to go but it sure looks like it can get the job done. Can you give me some information about your build what brand rims, rock sliders and winch set up model # ? And on last question is that the stock front bumper?
