Anyone seeing anything crazy on MY2018s now that 2019s are starting to be everywhere?

There’s a 2018 JLUR Mojito like I’d want for $45k MSRP and wondering how bad a dealer would actually want to move it?

Maybe I’ll try it this week. Hate buying what feels like a 1 year old new vehicle but for the right deal maybe.

Couple tips:
MSRP is a load of bull, and if you pay it, you're getting hosed. Most reputable dealers are doing between 5-7% below INVOICE on orders. I would try to use that as leverage in negotiation. If it's what you want and it's on their lot, they would be stupid to lose a sale because they refuse to negotiate on price. Use this link to find out invoice pricing:

Use email to negotiate. Don't even bother stepping on to a lot until you've agreed on an "out the door" price and a potential fair value (ball park) for your trade via email, so you have it in writing.

If a dealer refuses to budge on these, move on and find one who will play ball. Plain and simple. Jeeps are a dime a dozen and as long as you can check the boxes and order from the factory, you can probably get another one for a better price. I did this, and it worked out well for me. My contact at my local dealer worked with me every step of the way, he was a decent and stand up guy so overall the process was pretty painless (with the exception of dropping the $$$- that will never be painless lol). When all was said and done, I walked out the door with a 2019 JLUR in the color I wanted with the options I wanted (because we couldn't get one within a 300mi radius) for a price and trade value I was OK with overall.

Hope this helps! Good luck!

Appreciate the response. I guess I was asking if anyone has had any recent success grabbing a 2018 with so many 2019s on lots now.

I can order a 2019 at 5% under invoice from my local dealer so it would have to be a pretty sweet deal for me to take the 2018. Like over 15% off MSRP if you really think about it. Guess I can make a crazy offer of “I’ll order at 5% under invoice for a 2019 unless you want to sell that 2018 JLUR for $38k” (~15% off) and see what happens.

Thanks

Exactly. Tell them what you're willing to pay. Use that as leverage. "You're going to have to do better than that. This vehicle is already a year old, people drove it. Why would I buy this one when i could order a brand new one with my name on the sticker?"

FWIW: I almost bought a 2017 JKUR that was a "leftover". It had most of what I wanted and only 20 miles on it from moving between and around lots. It listed on AutoTrader at $40k, Dealer offered me $37k, highest i would go was $35k. They wouldn't budge and it sat there for another 3-6 months after I decided to order my JLUR. It disappeared off AT around October or November, if I recall correctly. My experience is if you're at all in the neighborhood, a dealer will bite. It's hard for them to let a vehicle like that sit on their lot unsold, but at the same time- a Brightly colored Rubi wil get all sorts of yahoos willing to pay MSRP, so at this point- it's anyone's guess.

Good luck, Keep us posted.
