No, this is not your normal steering post. I ordered mine and it was delivered in May 2018 after a 3 year wait... (it just seemed like three years. lol) I have had no issues with steering from day one. Its tight, doesn't wander, no wobble, etc. I have been very happy with it overall, with minor issues that the dealer has fixed (non steering). However.....

I noticed this happen a couple times last winter, but only marginally so. But today, it was bad! I pulled up to my first right hand turn coming to work and my steering seemed to "catch" in one spot. I had to forcefully turn the wheel to get it to turn. It did and then it seemed like it was fine. Did not have that issue with any of the other turns today (short 2 mile drive to work). When this happened last winter it was more like a resistance spot in the steering turning to the right. Not bad enough to cause issues, but I definitely noticed it. Again, seemed to be early morning when it was cold. @JeepCares

I am so sorry to hear about this! Are you planning on getting your vehicle checked out by a dealership? We aren't technicians, so we work with our dealers on concerns that arise during ownership.

If you do make an appointment to get your Wrangler checked out, let us know. We would be happy to connect you with a case specialist that will work with you to make sure everything is resolved.

Morton - Yes, there have been lots of discussion about steering here, but mine has not been an issue other than this seemingly unusual issue. I have the OEM Rubi wheels and tires, no lift. The "tight spot" seems to be at about 30% right turn if that makes sense.

JeepCares - I have a schedule maintenance scheduled for the 23rd and I am going to have them check on it, but my worry is repeatability.

I understand where you are coming from. If you'd like to escalate a case, feel free to let us know.

I've had my 2019 JLUR since April, and Wednesday was the first cold day since I bought it (about 36F when I left in the morning). I had a very similar thing happen where I noticed that when I first started driving, going around a right hand turn and the transitioning to a left hand turn there was noticeable resistance just right of center. It seemed to be consistent for about 15 minutes or so and then slowly went away. Same thing yesterday. It seems not to do it when it warms up around noon, and also after driving it for a while. wondering if it's temperature related....

Gallagher, I think it almost has to be temperature related since I have not had the issue for months during the summer.

Pretty sure there is a TSB about this issue. I only know, because I have a very similar issue in the 2016 Durango I drive for work, but it doesnā€™t cover Dodges.

I had the tsb done last year at the end of winter and it was fine throughout the summer but just had our first cold day 47 deg and sure enough it was almost impossible to turn. Brought it in to a different dealer and they performed the newest tsb, I'm not sure if its the same as last years. now just waiting for a brisk morning. I also heard that the steering box is the issue and someone else mentioned here that the parameter for the power steering line was mixed up for a two door vs a four door and had to be corrected.

Same sporadic deal for my 2018. I think it is related to the electronic steering. It has happened twice with cold mornings and an aggressive turn and a rough road, acts like it decided to turn off the power steering for a moment or three, then all back to normal.

Almost had me going back to a Tacoma, but then I realized it would take 6 inches of lift, solid axle conversions, and the introduction of lots of worse steering issues to turn a tacoma into a rubicon :)
