I have a 2018 JL with the 8 speed automatic and the 3.6 and I have had this issue for probably over a year now and I left it alone since it wasn’t a big deal but I am trying to figure it out, my odometer will sometimes not show up on the dash screen or show “999999” miles on it, though it does eventually change/shows up to the actual amount of mileage after driving for a little bit. Also when getting in to start when the odometer issue is going to happen before I start the jeep it says “push button and clutch to start” which doesn’t make sense since I have an automatic transmission. My guess what could be causing it is maybe my 12V battery needs to be replaced since I am still on the original battery, it starts no issues so I wasn’t sure on that. Also, just so everyone knows I disconnected the auto start stop battery, but it was doing it before I even did that. Let me know if you have any ideas on what it could be or if it may just be needing a new battery and let me know if you need more info about it. Thanks

My wife's '18 JLU has all the same symptoms that you describe, down to the "Push Clutch to Start" message and hers is also an automatic. We changed out the OEM batteries three years ago. Do you have the upgraded cluster with digital fuel and temperature gauges?

Yes, it has a digital fuel and temperature gauge. It’s not the tiny mechanical ones.

Though I did find after posting this someone with a similar issue and they said they just had the dealer Reflash the system and it fixed it

My wife's has the same one - I believe it's a cluster issue. I do remember reading through some threads on here that there was an updated calibration the dealer could do.

I have the base cluster with the physical gauges in my '18, so far that one is fine.

My 2018 would do that too just before the aux battery would go out.

Mine does all that. It resolves itself eventually. Sometimes the screen is blank, i.e. no average gas mileage, batt voltage, oil pressure, etc. If I scroll +/- they come back. Aux batt bypassed, new H7 AGM main. It would be nice for a fix.

First place to start is load test your batteries, separately if you have an aux (non-etorque); if bad replace and see if that cures the issue. Also, check battery cables and grounds for loose connections/corrosion.

It's not a battery issue. Mine's done this for six years. It's a software issue on CANBUS at startup. Maybe there's a flash the dealer can do, but I'm wary of letting them try when it's a minor issue - it always resolved itself. The worst is when the screen is completely dark - that won't resolve until it's powered down for five minutes or so.

Mine does the exact same thing, but only for about the last 3 months. 2018 JLUR, 3.6, automatic, 45,000 miles. The batteries are original but the start/stop is still working correctly which leads me to believe they are fully charged. I also believe this is either a software issue or a screen problem. I don't really trust the dealer to re-flash the screen. So, I'm just living with it for now since it's not really causing a major problem.
Question: does Mopar push out updates via the Uconnect4 7-inch display screen that would also update the smaller center screen? I ask because I haven't had any software updates by the dealer and now I have this problem with the small display. That info would help me determine if it's a screen problem, buss problem, or software.

As far as I know, no. And I haven't seen seen an over the air update to U-Connect in several years.
The odometer issue has a flash available that's supposed to rectify the problem but it's hit or miss. If you do the update and it still doesn't work you need to replace the cluster. It's a very common problem on the 2018s

I had the same issue with my '18 JLUR when I bought it with 26k miles on it. Sometimes the odometer was not showing up, sometimes it would say push clutch to start even thought it's an automatic. I pressed the dealer and they finally admitted it was a known issue but said I had to pay $200 to have the system updatedf. They ended up doing it for no cost and it fixed the problem. No issues for the last 18 months.

My 2018 JLU has 90k miles on it and this issue just started on a recent long trip, it did not do it on every restart and all other dash functions work perfect. The batteries are less than 3 months old.

I have not checked the fuses recently to ensure they are all seated.
