I did the key trick and was able to get the codes on the odometer.

P0128 / P0520 / P0522

Has anybody here had any experience with these? What are your thoughts and solutions that you personally done to grt resolution?

I already looked up the codes, etc. I am looking for first hand accounts.

Thanks guys.

FYI, this is a JL (2018+) forum, while everyone is willing to help and may have owned a JK, you may get better advice on specific common issues in another forum.

I've seen similiar issues to your first code with a T-stat stuck open.

As Bob mentioned, the other two are oil pressure related and a good first check is oil level.

The P0128 trouble code indicates that the engine coolant temperature is not reaching the expected level within a specified time after starting the engine. This typically points to issues such as:

Looking at our manual, the temperature and pressure sensor are combined, so this could be a single issue. Doesn't look like an awful job to replace, but it's behind the alternator.

Yours could be easier. Check Youtube for "JK oil pressure sensor replacement"

Absolutely. I was thinking about replacing the sensor and cooler since I'll already have the manifold off.

Jk and Jl are setup the same, the sensor screws in the oil cooler which is under the intake plenum towards the firewall. If you have a leaking oil cooler you typically swap it with a new sensor and swap the spark plugs while in there. It’s also a good time to check rockers and cams, and inturn the PCV.

It’s a rite of passage for Jk or JL long term owners.

Now the which oil cooler discussion starts, I’ve used the Dorman which was a trend and it works for me but runs higher temps, others have gone back to OEM.

The consensus for the sensor seems to be stay OEM.

p0128 is just a thermostat. super common and replace it

check you oil cooler to see if its leaking. if it isn't just replace the sensor. if it is might as well replace the entire housing to get new gaskets & a new sensor, but can do them separate if desired.
